Transcriptionist (English)

We are seeking an experienced transcriptionist to join our English transcription team in a freelance status. You will be a professional responsible for converting English audio recordings into written text. The ideal candidate should have excellent listening and typing skills.

Job Description and Responsibilities

Listening and Transcribing: The core duty is to carefully listen to the audio and type out the spoken words verbatim including proper tagging for environmental or other sounds and the use of timestamps. The type of audios can be:

• Complete dialogues between a customer and a client (i.e. food orders)
• Medium length utterances with customer’s input
• Short utterances with confirmations by the client

This requires excellent listening skills, experience with different accents and a keen eye for detail to capture all the information accurately.

Time Management: Meeting deadlines is essential in transcription work, especially for time-sensitive projects. Transcriptionist must manage their time efficiently to complete assignments on time.

Familiarity with Terminology: Depending on the domain you will need to work in, transcriptionist may encounter specialized terminology. Occasionally, transcriptionist may need to research certain terms, names, or concepts to ensure accuracy and context.

Utilise Transcription Platform: You will work on a specialized online platform created by us, using shortcuts to expedite the procedure. You will only need your computer and a set of headsets.

Communication: You will need to communicate with your supervisor to clarify instructions or obtain additional information.

Adaptability: Different audio quality, accents, and background noise can present challenges in transcription. You must be adaptable and able to work with various types of recordings, especially recordings containing full dialogues between two people.

Continuous Improvement: As with any skill-based job, you can continually refine your skills and strive for improved accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements

• Excellent grammar, spelling, listening and punctuation skills in English. The candidates need to be fluent in English or native speakers.A certificate in English would be an advantage.
• Ability to type quickly and accurately while proofreading
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Hands-on experience with Windows/Linux/Mac OS environments
