We are seeking a passionate and experienced online Igbo Language Tutor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in teaching students at various levels, from beginners to advanced, and will create a stimulating virtual learning environment for our diverse student base. This role is ideal for someone who has a strong background in teaching Igbo to children in elementary or secondary school and is confident in engaging young learners (ages 4–15) virtually.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver comprehensive and engaging lessons in spoken and written Igbo Language, tailored to the individual needs and proficiency levels of students.
Develop lesson plans and a tailored curriculum for children between the ages of 4 and 15
Create engaging and interactive digital learning materials, including teaching curriculum, lesson plans, exercises, audio-visual aids, and cultural resources suitable for a virtual classroom.
Assess students' progress in reading, speaking, and writing regularly, and provide constructive feedback to facilitate their learning and improvement.
Effectively integrate cultural aspects of Igbo land into virtual lessons to enhance the learning experience and provide a deeper understanding of the language.
Utilize a variety of online teaching methodologies and platforms to cater to different learning styles in a remote setting.
Communicate clearly and effectively with students through virtual channels.
Stay updated on best practices in online language instruction and Igbo language developments to enhance students’ performance.
Requirements
Native and fluent in the Igbo Language (speaking, reading, and writing).
Bachelor's degree in Igbo Language, Linguistics, Education, or College of Education.
3-5 years of experience in teaching the Igbo Language to school children.
Experience in developing a curriculum that meets learning objectives.
Strong understanding of Igbo grammar, phonetics, and vocabulary.
Proficiency with online teaching tools (computer) and virtual communication tools (Teams, Google Meet, Skype).
Ability to teach elementary and post-elementary school children how to speak, read, and write in the Igbo Language.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent pedagogical skills and ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learners in a virtual setting.
Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for teaching the Igbo language and culture.
Reliable internet connection and a conducive remote working environment.
Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or other educational software.
