This is a remote, part-time, 25 hrs/week, position that reports to the CN Director. No travel is required. The position will include full benefits and last for at least 4 months, with the potential to extend into a permanent position if funding permits. NOTE:We are actively seeking funding to extend this role into a permanent position.
Primary Responsibilities
- Draft short written narratives and blogs
- Edit and produce basic short-form audio and video stories
- Collect and organize a variety of content and resources from, and for, CN members via regular newsletters
- Edit and prepare reports for sharing/publication, including content review, layout, and basic graphics
- Update website content with communications materials that are produced
- Maintain CN’s online presence on social platforms, including regularly posting content and monitoring engagement as needed
- Assist with fundraising and grant writing materials, as needed
- Gather and present information to communicate program outcomes and the organization’s collective impact
- Support communications tasks (e.g., invitations, outreach, follow-up communications products) for events, workshops, and dialogues
- Build and maintain an understanding of CN mission, vision, principles, and work

Specific Experience Requested:

- 3+ years of applicable professional experience in communications, preferably in a similar role
- Excellent communications skills in English, with the ability to craft powerful, concise narratives in written, audio, and/or video format
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to outline workplans, communicate and clarify needs, multitask, meet deadlines, maintain attention to detail, and produce high-quality work products
- Experience collaborating and communicating with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, geographies, and perspectives
- The ability to lead initiatives, working both independently and in collaborative teams in a remote environment, and to take direction and receive guidance from others
- Experience with graphic design, video, and audio editing
- Competency in collaborative tools and platforms used regularly in CN – Google Workspace and Zoom; web/social platforms – including Squarespace, YouTube, LinkedIn; and graphics tools – including Adobe and/or Canva
- Experience living in and/or working with under-served communities, including Indigenous communities, communities of color, and low-income communities
- An interest in working as a member of a close-knit, principled, and dedicated team offering high quality reliable support to CN members and partners
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (written and verbal)
- Lived and/or professional experience communicating about harmful climate impacts, disaster response, displacement, adaptation-in-place, and/or relocation
- Experience and engagement with local initiatives in your own community (e.g., mutual aid / grassroots organizations, local government, advocacy, etc.)
- Experience communicating with private funders and donors
- Familiarity with SEO and website and social media analytics

Workplace, Compensation & Application
Compensation: Multiplier and CN provide a comprehensive compensation package, including competitive salary ($40-45/hour), excellent medical and dental benefits, retirement savings, and generous vacation and sick leave policy.
- Initial Screening: All applications will be anonymized and reviewed, with Multiplier staff support, using criteria developed by CN staff and Council. If you are a potential match, Multiplier will schedule a short call to learn more about your skills and experience.
- Interview: Based on screenings, CN staff and Council will review a pool of potential candidates and identify who to interview. From those selected to interview, we will also request samples of past communications products and references. CN staff will conduct virtual interviews in partnership with Council members and Multiplier.
- Selection: Based on screenings, interviews, references, and work samples provided, CN staff and Council will select and make an offer to a final candidate.
