Mainline seeks an experienced Backup, Storage and Virtualization Engineer to join the Managed Services organization, which is responsible for managing and supporting various client storage and backup environments. This role is client-facing and provides insight and guidance to our clients beginning with the sales cycle all the way through to client kickoff and management of our client's environment. The SE must have strong technical skills complemented by customer relationship skills.

Job Summary
Mainline seeks an experienced Backup Storage and Virtualization Engineer to join the Managed Services organization, which is responsible for managing and supporting various client environments. This role is client facing and will focus on supporting and maintaining backup systems, storage solutions, and virtualization technologies to ensure data integrity, system reliability, and operational efficiency.
The Backup Storage and Virtualization Engineer will have general experience in backup and storage solutions, virtualization platforms, and possess a passion for learning, innovation and client satisfaction. Along with strong technical skills the Engineer must also have professional communication skills and be great with our clients. This position is remote and can be located nationally within the United States.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain enterprise backup solutions to ensure the successful completion of backups and restorations.
- Manage and optimize storage infrastructure, including SAN (Storage Area Networks) and NAS (Network Attached Storage) systems
- Analyze and forecast storage capacity needs to support business requirements.
- Manage and maintain virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Troubleshoot and resolve virtualization-related performance and connectivity issues.
- Ensure all systems adhere to security best practices and compliance standards.
- Create and maintain thorough documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures.
- Ability to learn and work within multiple ITSM tools for incidents and change management.
- Perform routine maintenance, upgrades and patches.
- Strive for automation and efficiency in daily tasks.
- Be available for on-call duties as required to support business operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience with one or more backup and data protection systems (e.g. Veeam, Commvault, Infinidat, Cohesity, IBM).
- Experience with one or more storage technologies (e.g., Pure, IBM, NetApp, Dell)
- Experience in virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere, Hyper-V).
- Be proactive in nature and strive for customer satisfaction
- Ability to troubleshoot difficult technical issues
- Knowledge of operating systems such as AIX, Linux and Windows.
- 3+ years of professional, hands-on experience
- Active participation in training programs, certifications, or workshops
- Strong ambition to continuously advance skills and learn new ones to support clients and grow the Managed Service organization.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Candidates should possess a minimum of 3 years' experience with backup, storage and virtualization technologies.
- Professional certifications are a plus.

This is a fully remote position. Candidates located within the united states will be considered.
