Overview
LMI is seeking UI/UX designer to join an agile team developing software to support the Navy's shipyard communication architecture.
Responsibilities
- Work with users and subject matter experts to clearly understand and define their challenges, problems, motivations, triggers, and aspirations.
- Solve problems and think critically to architect innovative and practical technology and functional solutions.
- Work closely with product managers, product owners, other designers, full-stack engineers, and developers to design and build solution mock-ups and prototypes.
- Create a wide range of design artifacts, such as wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity designs, and journey maps.
- Demonstrate product designs and solution prototypes to senior leadership, service lines, and markets.
- Integrate elements of system, process, and interface design to demonstrate frictionless user experiences.
- Rapidly test designs with users in collaboration with other designers.
- Incorporate feedback from research and user testing to inform design decisions.
- Transition designs to engineering and development teams to build solutions and work alongside these teams to make sure solutions are on track with the original design.
- Monitor the success of user experiences and iterate to adjust and evolve product designs.
- Collaborate with service lines, markets, and corporate enterprise services to target products that strategically align to capabilities, customer opportunities, and internal corporate needs.
- Generate buy-in for product vision with both senior leadership and customer stakeholders.
- Maintain familiarity with current trends in technology, innovation, and salient challenges in the federal government.
Percentage of Travel Required: 10%
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4–10 years of experience in product design or related discipline.
- Experience developing to 508 compliances.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Entrepreneurial spirit, independent and self-motivated, and results oriented.
- Technically adept and business-focused to interface across technical disciplines and with senior leaders.
- Experience with design tools, such as Adobe XD, Balsamiq, Figma, InVision, Sketch, and Zeplin.
- Ability to grasp technical concepts and apply them effectively to practical solutions.
- Ability to take on multiple perspectives ranging from business end users to solution architects, engineers, and developers.
- Experience with software development or web design, code development, and cloud infrastructure.
- Experience working on Agile Software Development.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in design, user experience, technology, computer science, or related technical discipline and 4–10 years of product design or related experience.
- Secret clearance or ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance, for which one must be a US citizen.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred experience with security requirements in a federal IT environment, including FISMA requirements for acquiring an ATO, FedRAMP-certified providers, DoD Impact Levels, and JWICS.
- Preferred experience with NavyLogistics Operations.
- SAFe Agile certification.
- Human Centered Design certification.
- Human Factors Engineering experience.
