Technical Territory Representative – North America Irrigation (Southeast Region)

Position Description

The Technical Territory Representative will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of Lindsay Corporation's FieldNET & FieldNET Advisor products within the Southeast region of North America. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, sales acumen, and agricultural knowledge to effectively penetrate the market, build strong relationships with dealers and growers, and drive adoption of Lindsay's irrigation solutions. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual with a passion for agriculture, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The Technical Territory Representative will work closely with the FieldNET and Zimmatic teams to achieve shared objectives and deliverables. This position is remote and does require significant travel (50%).

Key Responsibilities

  • Market Penetration Strategy: Develop, manage, and execute a comprehensive strategy to increase the market penetration of FieldNET & FieldNET Advisor products within the Southeast region. This includes identifying key market segments, establishing dealer channels, and ensuring customer success.
  • Relationship Building: Build and nurture strong, trust-based relationships with dealers, agronomic consultants, and growers within the region. Utilize a consultative selling approach to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Sales and Training: Conduct cold calls and in-person meetings to educate dealers and growers on the features, benefits, and proper usage of FieldNET & FieldNET Advisor products. Provide ongoing training and support to ensure maximum adoption and customer satisfaction.
  • Technical Support: Provide remote or in-field technical support and assistance during the growing season months. Assist with software setup, account management, and resolution of customer issues to ensure a seamless user experience.
  • Market Analysis: Utilize Excel and other analytical tools to conduct data-driven market analysis and identify opportunities for growth. Stay informed about competitive products, services, and market trends to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Document sales calls, customer interactions, and market insights. Regularly update and utilize CRM tools such as Sales Force to track progress and report on key metrics. Communicate customer expectations and promptly inform management of product, customer, or competitive issues.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with regional managers, product managers, dealers, and the FieldNET team to align strategies, share best practices, and drive overall business success. Take the lead when working with product team to identify and execute on needed case study crops and field locations.

Performance Expectations:

  • Meet or exceed sales targets and market penetration goals within the Southeast region.
  • Maintain high customer satisfaction and renewal rates for FieldNET & FieldNET Advisor products.
  • Create grower demand for FieldNET and FieldNET Advisor sales within North America
  • Drive adoption of FieldNET Advisor among existing FieldNET users.
  • Conduct regular training sessions and sales presentations for dealers and growers.
  • Stay informed about market trends and competitive products to maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of a two-year degree in Business, Agronomy, Marketing, or related Agriculture curriculum. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Alternatively, 7+ years of experience in ag technology, agronomy, or mechanized ag related sales & management will be considered in leu of a 2-year degree.
  • Two or more years of ag technology sales experience with knowledge of competitive practices, training techniques and implementation tactics. Experience in Precision Ag, Agronomy, or Irrigation segments preferred.
  • Strong background in agriculture, including knowledge of crops grown within the region, irrigation methods, and farming practices.
  • Excellent business acumen, public speaking, decision-making, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with computers, mobile devices, software, and technical understanding of electronics.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to develop and manage a distribution channel.
  • Ability to work in both a group environment and independently to develop plans to achieve sales and performance goals.
  • Ability to maintain calm and professional under any circumstances.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel overnight, for multiple nights and sometimes weekends throughout the year. Expected 50% travel within the US and Canada. Travel is seasonal and expected during the non-growing season months within North America.
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours some weeks and able to take calls after normal working hours.
