Position Description

Lindsay Corporation is searching for a Business Development Manager for its Infrastructure division. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for go-to-market strategy, business development, channel development and sales of emerging technology products and services. The RoadConnect program is a growth initiative project, designed to deliver more advanced road safety and asset management solutions to the transportation market.

Position Details

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will lead the development, nurturing and closing of business opportunities at the federal, state, municipal and associated industry stakeholder level, including department of transportation and infrastructure contractors. Understanding the long-lead sales cycle for this emerging market, coupled with the ability to continuously manage the various cycle phases of multiple projects simultaneously is critical to the SBDM's success. This position will require extensive national travel (up to 50%) and will serve as a catalyst to this team for relationship building/management, while the team will serve as a source of support and industry insight.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Analyze and understand industry dynamics, the competitive landscape and identify opportunities for foothold in key growth markets and regions.
  • Build business cases grounded in strong P&L knowledge, financial acumen, accurate forecasting, competitor strategies and industry trends.
  • Define solutions, assess technical and commercial needs, develop, and execute plans including approved Go-to-Market strategy.
  • Work within a defined vertical to develop strong relationships with decision makers to acquire new business through a strategic sales process.
  • Identify, develop, and close revenue-based strategic partnerships and relationships with DOT’s and DOT contractors.
  • Develop marketing strategy and detailed operational marketing plans to drive revenue growth.
  • Maintain highly interactive relationship and collaboration with all internal commercial channels (marketing, support and product development) and provide feedback from the market to improve products and services.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients by understanding their needs and providing timely solutions.

  • Participate in industry conferences and association meetings as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field of business, engineering, or construction management.
  • Minimum of 5 years (8+ preferred) of relevant business development and sales experience in project, value-based solution sales. Preferred experience within the transportation infrastructure segment, but not required.
  • Candidates with understanding and experience with industry associations and agencies such as: USDOT/FHWA, State Government/DOTs, AASHTO, IRF, TRB, ITS America, toll-way authorities & concessionaires, is desired but not required.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking ability and business acumen.
  • Proven knowledge of strategic sales and solution design.
  • Proven experience building and managing strong partnerships to achieve financial results.
  • Demonstrate strong skills in data analysis and interpretations.
  • Demonstrate written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Proven relationship building skills, with experience in marshalling resources across the organization and with partners.
  • Strong technical aptitude, ability to grasp concepts and solve complex problems.
