The Technical Trainer is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering engaging training programs that enable adult learners to effectively use and support technical systems.

This role

  • Combines expertise in instructional design, content development, and virtual facilitation to create scalable, high-impact learning solutions.

  • Partners with technical teams and stakeholders to translate complex system functionality into clear, user-friendly training experiences that drive adoption, proficiency, and performance.

  • Tracks all program personnel certifications to ensure annual certification requirements are met and that staff maintain comprehensive and current knowledge within their respective disciplines.

  • Documents, retains, and tracks required staff training and ensures compliance with established training frequency requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and develop comprehensive training curricula for technical systems, including virtual instructor-led training (VILT), eLearning modules, and self-paced learning solutions

  • Apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to create effective, learner-centered content

  • Translate complex technical concepts, workflows, and system processes into clear, engaging training materials

  • Develop a wide range of learning assets, including facilitator guides, user manuals, job aids, simulations, videos, and knowledge base content

  • Deliver interactive virtual training sessions using modern learning technologies and engagement strategies

  • Conduct training needs analyses to identify knowledge gaps and align learning solutions with business and system requirements

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, developers, and program teams to ensure accuracy and relevance of technical content

  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, learner feedback, and performance metrics; continuously refine content

  • Support system implementations, upgrades, and enhancements by developing and delivering targeted training programs

  • Maintain and update training materials to reflect system changes, new features, and evolving best practices

  • Track training completion and learner progress through a training platform.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Adult Education, Human Resources Training and Development, or a related field.

  • Minimum of five years of experience developing, leading, and implementing training programs for technological systems.

  • Strong knowledge of technical systems used in call center environments.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong customer service skills and knowledge of call center operations.

  • Proven proficiency in technology platforms and electronic learning systems, as well as Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, and Excel.

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.

  • U.S. citizenship and fluency in English required.

  • Ability to successfully pass criminal history, fingerprint background checks, and credential verification required.

  • Ability to maintain and retain suitability investigation and clearance as required.

  • Proficient in navigating electronic systems, computer programs, and virtual service platforms.

  • This position requires a separate, quiet, private, confidential space to work from, as well as having access to your own reliable high-speed internet hard wired to your home (coax or fiber from the Internet Service Provider (ISP) to your home.) Using a hot spot from a mobile device (tethering) or wireless ISP is not acceptable.

Pay Range $65,650 - $102,262.50

Leidos' story begins in 1969 when Dr. J. Robert Beyster, a visionary scientist, founded Science Applications Incorporated (SAI) in La Jolla, San Diego, California. With a modest investment and a powerful idea, Dr. Beyster embarked on a journey to apply scientific expertise to solve complex problems. This era set the stage for substantial growth and diversification. The 1990s saw SAIC continue to expand its offerings and international presence, securing its first major global contract with the Kuwaiti Defense Forces. A pivotal moment arrived in 2013 when SAIC underwent a significant transformation, splitting into two independent, publicly traded companies: a new company retaining the SAIC name and the original company, which was rebranded as Leidos (a name derived from 'kaleidoscope'). Leidos, as the legal successor to the original SAIC, inherited its pre-2013 stock price and corporate filing history and established its new headquarters in Reston, Virginia. This strategic move allowed Leidos to sharpen its focus on national security, health, and engineering solutions. Another major milestone occurred in August 2016 when Leidos merged with Lockheed Martin's Information Systems & Global Solutions (IS&GS) business, a landmark transaction that created the defense industry's largest IT services provider and significantly expanded Leidos' capabilities and market share. Today, Leidos stands as a Fortune 500® global science and technology leader, employing approximately 47,000 people worldwide and generating billions in annual revenue, committed to making the world safer, healthier, and more efficient through innovation and technology.
