The Journeyman Database Architect works to design, implement, and maintain a data pipeline and analytical environment using reporting tools, modeling metadata, and building reports and dashboards. The candidate will be responsible for performing tasks relating to Database Management System (DBMS) applications, including definition, design, structure, documentation, upgrades, long-range requirements, operational guidelines, and protection.Duties include database modeling and design, metadata, and repository creation. Additionally, the candidate will use data mapping, data mining, and data transformational analysis tools to design and develop databases. Support duties may include entering and reviewing data within the database, ensuring user data integrity, maintaining database support tools, database tables and dictionaries, recovery and back-up procedures, and making recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements.

*This position is contingent upon Leidos being awarded a contract under which the work will be performed.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform Database administration activities required to install and maintain database management software, design and implement predictive analysis

  • Manage and monitor the DB.

  • Identify database bottlenecks and provide remediation steps

  • Implement database backup solutions

  • Implement security configuration including grants, roles, and profiles, perform database security monitoring, and perform database auditing, and implement security standards

  • Perform database schema change management, control, and execute code deployments to upper database environments and execute database data movement to satisfy ETL, backup/recovery

  • Administer and maintain ETL tools, including Informatica

  • Develop solutions to technical problems

Basic Qualifications

  • Requires a BS degree and a minimum of 3 years of prior relevant experience or a Master's with 2 – 4 years of prior relevant experience

  • Ability to be cleared by the US Government via a Minimum Background Investigation (MBI)

  • Experience building and integrating at the application and/or database level

  • Experience developing REST/SOAP APIs and messaging protocols, and formats

  • Familiarity with event-driven finite state machines

  • SQL proficiency to include schema design, data definition

  • Familiarity with MPP data warehouses

  • Linux server management background

  • Can prototype visualizations with a lightweight data visualization suite

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, along with the ability to present technical data and approaches to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Automating NoSQL day-to-day operational activities (security, index maintenance, backups, disaster recovery, and installation)

  • Experience in deploying and supporting multiple database platform solutions in a multi-zone clustered environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working on projects within the Federal Government, with a focus in an IRS/Treasury environment

  • Working with Python, Shell, and PowerShell scripting

  • Experience with Informatica

Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00

Another major milestone occurred in August 2016 when Leidos merged with Lockheed Martin's Information Systems & Global Solutions (IS&GS) business, a landmark transaction that created the defense industry's largest IT services provider and significantly expanded Leidos' capabilities and market share.
