Job Description Summary:
Krystal Biotech is looking for a driven Area Director who will play an instrumental role in the leadership function of the West sales team during the promotion of Vyjuvek for the treatment of patients with Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa (DEB). Vyjuvek is a non-invasive, topical gene therapy designed to treat DEB at the molecular level by providing the patient’s skin cells with two copies of the COL7A1 gene to make functional COL7 protein, thereby addressing the fundamental disease-causing mechanism. The Area Director, West will be responsible for executing strategic sales plans, building, and maintaining customer relationships, and achieving revenue targets in alignment with Krystal’s business objectives.
We are looking for a creative Area Director who can work individually to promote Vyjuvek while leading and managing the West sales to facilitate a continuous successful launch. Krystal employees are expected to embrace diversity and be able to work with internal and external partners from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Additionally, the successful candidate must demonstrate excellence in integrity and compliance with all interactions and adherence to corporate and industry guidelines. Ideal location would be a major-metro in the Western third of the country (Denver, Phoenix, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Diego, etc.).
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop and provide leadership to a top performing sales team to ensure continued success of Vyjuvek.
- Establish cross functional relationships with Medical Teams, Access Teams, and Patient Service Teams to ensure their region has a cohesive approach to patient and HCP support.
- Understand clinical data, disease education, and product information to effectively educate clinicians on the signs and symptoms of diseases within the therapeutic area.
- Participate in strategic territory planning sessions and execute plans within a team environment to achieve sales goals and drive market penetration.
- Maintain strict adherence to all legal, regulatory, ethical, administrative and financial duties.
- Plan, organize, implement and evaluate marketing programs including lectures, patient meetings, speaker programs, dinner programs and others.
- Communicate all disease and product information in a manner that is truthful and consistent with Krystal Biotech’s compliance policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify opportunities for growth.
- Achieve and exceed assigned monthly, quarterly and annual sales quotas.
- Ability to travel up to 50-75% as needed to support regional operations.
- Attend local, regional, and national meetings as directed, fostering open communication and collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in life science, business, or healthcare preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of successful pharmaceutical/biotech management experience
- Minimum of 5 years of successful pharmaceutical/biotech experience in rare disease/ultra-rare disease
- Strong verbal, influencing, presentation and written communication skills, as well as negotiation and presentation skills
- Ability to adapt to changing business needs, conditions, and work responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of sales processes
- Displays an ongoing commitment to learning and self-improvement
- Up to 50% Travel
