(Psycho-Social) Counselor (gn) - Ukrainian Chat Support

krisenchat is a nationwide, free support service for children and young adults in need. We offer children and young people professional psychosocial counselling - every day, 24 hours a day, via WhatsApp or text message. krisenchat has been available 24/7 since the beginning of May 2020 - since then, our crisis counselors have been able to help in over 120.000 crisis situations. Since 1 March 2022, krisenchat Ukrainian has also been providing confidential crisis counseling in Ukrainian and Russian for people affected by war at any age - with over 23.000 consultations provided. In addition to crisis counseling, krisenchat reaches many millions of young people every year through psychoeducation via social media platforms.

We are an interdisciplinary and agile non-profit organization and work flexibly from our beautiful office in Berlin or from home.

preferably based in Germany; remote/hybrid, 30 h / week

limited contract (until 31.12.2025), expecting further extension

This role - based on a 30 h/week temporary contract - will join our fabulous UA psychological counseling team to:

• Provide people affected by the war in Ukraine with psycho-social support chats scheduled in brief shifts (also on weekends)

• Accompany the volunteer counsellors in the best possible way to also provide chat consultation on our platform.

Your further tasks will be:

• Assessing and accompanying chats that deal with acute moments of endangerment.

• Supporting our volunteer counselors with content-related questions

• Supporting our future product transformation through highly valued feedback.

• Participating in internal meetings, workshops, lectures, intervision, and supervision.

• Acting as contact person for the team towards the tech team (developers) to facilitate upcoming technical requests and needs and lead to a swift solution.

• Executing administrative tasks - documentations, reports, similar - where required.

Must-haves:

• Master's degree in psychology or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Clinical knowledge of problems and disorders in children and adolescents and trauma

• Ideally, first hand practical experience in the accompaniment and counselling or crisis intervention for children, adolescents or adults under stress

• You are highly confident in speaking and writing in Ukrainian and Russian (Level C1-C2 in both)

• You are confident in internal communication in English (not necessarily counselling) - language skills in English at ~ B2

• Very high level of resilience in critical situations

• Feeling for sensitive communication and knowledge of resonance

• Good self-regulation skills

• Ability for self-reflection

• Ability to work in a team and independently

• Certain degree of flexibility in scheduling
