Position summary:
The Coordinator of Student Activities promotes an active and engaging student experience and develops student leadership skills through creation of a comprehensive campus programming model. The Coordinator enhances student development by overseeing the planning, implementation, and execution of educational, social, cultural, and recreational activities for all student populations, including residential students, commuter students, online students, and those attending classes at other KC locations, including KC-Longview and dual credit high school students.

Position responsibilities:

  • Coordinates student-related activities and functions that are consistent with the College’s mission and best practices.
  • Serves as the advisor for the Student Government Association
  • Oversees student clubs and organizations and ensures clubs and organizations are in compliance with College policies and procedures.
  • Works with Campus Ministries to cooperatively plan activities/events.
  • Partners with Campus Life and other College groups/volunteers to provide appropriate and fully-staffed events.
  • Communicates with current and potential students about student life opportunities, including through social media and participation in campus recruiting and registration events.
  • Coordinates and/or disseminates community volunteer opportunities for students.
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • One year of related work experience, preferably in student activities, student housing, or student services. Two years of involvement and/or leadership in campus activities or organizations while a college student may be considered in lieu of work experience.
  • Strong leadership skills, demonstrating vision, innovation, and purpose.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that reflect a welcoming, positive, and encouraging attitude toward a diverse student population.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to efficiently multi-task and work independently.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Effective and attentive supervision of student workers

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • 0 Full-Time Direct Reports Varying Part-Time Direct Reports (Student Workers)
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • No or very limited physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
Safety:
  • Provide resources for safe operation of units. Create and support workplace safety.

  • Compensation for this 12-month position is $44,618

Positions will remain open until filled. Teaching positions will be required to submit official transcripts upon an offer of employment.
