The journey began in 2024, when the company was established as a 100% export-oriented venture, strategically incorporated within the Colombo Port City Special Economic Zone. From its inception, IGT 1 Lanka was positioned for success, operating as a subsidiary of the Swedish powerhouse, IGT I Holdings Sweden AB. This affiliation brought with it the formidable backing of three global private equity giants: EQT, Hg, and TA Associates. This strong foundation provided not just capital, but also a rich heritage of investment and success in the tech industry, including a sister relationship with IFS, a long-standing and major technology employer in Sri Lanka for over two decades.

In a remarkably short period, IGT 1 Lanka has charted an impressive course of growth. Within its first year of operation, the company had already built a dynamic team of over 370 professionals and began serving a global clientele across the Americas and Europe. This swift expansion culminated in a landmark agreement to establish its headquarters within the Business Centre at Port City Colombo, securing two office buildings with an initial plan to house approximately 500 employees. This strategic move not only solidified its physical presence but also underscored its commitment to contributing to Sri Lanka's vision of becoming a premier regional tech hub. The company's ambition doesn't stop there; it has laid out a clear roadmap to more than double its workforce and create over 1,000 direct employment opportunities by 2027, fostering a vibrant ecosystem of innovation, knowledge sharing, and technological advancement, with a keen focus on cutting-edge fields like generative AI.
