We’re passionate about building tools that help small and medium-sized businesses market, sell, and serve their customers — and ultimately, grow better. The CRM Card Infrastructure team is focused on building a flexible system that allows CRM pages and cards to be customized in a way that is coherent for admins, scalable for our teams, and empowers reps to do their jobs. We own the services used for page layout, card registration, conditional display, and user/admin customization for many locations across the HubSpot product.

The HubSpot CRM is a complex platform. Backend teams work collaboratively with their frontend teams to understand customer problems and build productized solutions to work across web and mobile clients. We don’t have any dedicated QA or DevOps teams - this is by design. Our developers take full responsibility - for writing, building, and deploying to production - quality code, with automated testing and monitoring. HubSpot has a world-class developer tooling and infrastructure platform to make this process seamless, allowing us to deploy to production on average 5,000 times per day.

As a Backend Senior Software Engineer II on the CRM Card Infrastructure team, you will provide technical direction for team projects, participate in code reviews, and carry out system testing and debugging issues. You will take a significant role in shaping the future of the CRM UI Framework architecture and internal backend developer experience. You will work closely with frontend and backend teams across the organization on new framework features with a focus on delivering a world-class UI customization framework that empowers our customers with the building blocks to create a truly crafted end-to-end experience. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers in areas such as architecture, design, coding, tooling, and infrastructure.

In this role, we’re looking for Engineers that:

  • Are strong systems designers, interested in writing in the Java ecosystem
  • Take ownership of the end-to-end solution, work collaboratively, and figure things out
  • Understand that their job is not about implementing pre-written requirements, but figuring out exactly what is required to add value to our customers and their businesses
  • Consistently work to deliver reliable, performant, well-tested code
  • Have a customer-centric attitude and develop an understanding of the HubSpot product

You may be a fit if:

  • You have backend development experience. We work with Java, MySQL, AWS, DropWizard, Kafka, and Kubernetes primarily, but experience with specific technologies is secondary to understanding programming fundamentals.
  • You have experience leading the implementation of platforms, particularly transitioning from feature-based systems to generic extensible platforms.
  • You have experience designing and implementing APIs.
  • You have experience collaborating on customer-facing features.
  • You consistently work to deliver reliable, performant, and well-tested code.
  • You have a thirst for technical problems with distributed systems at a massive scale.
  • Have a customer-centric attitude and develop an understanding of the HubSpot product.
  • Understand the value of building a diverse team, and are upstanders for Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging initiatives.
