Alma’s Data teams are on a transformative journey, evolving their culture and infrastructure to be AI-first and deeply data-driven. As the BI Group Manager for Operations & Customer Experience, you will be a pivotal leader in this evolution, sitting at the intersection of complex business operations and advanced analytics. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Alma’s Business Intelligence, you will lead the BI analysts supporting our Core Operations, Customer Experience and Finance value streams. Your mission is to move beyond standard reporting to provide the strategic insights and robust data products that allow Alma to scale efficiently while maintaining a world-class customer experience.

Outcomes: How We’ll Define Success in the First 12 Months

This is a multi-pod leadership role focused on high-impact delivery and strategic orchestration. In the first 12 months you will:

  • Establish Strategic Trust & Roadmap Ownership: Within the first few months, you will have fully integrated with your stakeholders in Operations, CX, and Finance. Success is defined by becoming the primary owner of the team’s work, roadmap, and delivery, ensuring that data priorities are perfectly aligned with business-critical objectives.
  • Drive Long-Term Strategic Planning: You will lead the creation of the H2 and 2027 BI strategy for your domains. This includes defining ambitious business goals, multi-quarter roadmaps, and resource plans that anticipate the needs of a rapidly scaling organization.
  • Bridge the Gap Between Business Needs & Data Products: You will partner with Data Science and Data Engineering leaders to craft a vision for the next generation of our data products. You will successfully translate complex stakeholder needs into scalable tools and services, ensuring our data architecture supports long-term business agility.
  • Operational & Financial Integrity: Collaborating closely with the Finance team, you will ensure all necessary data fulfills requirements for the 2026 financial audit with high precision, consistency, and transparency.

Other Responsibilities: What Else You Will Do

  • Direct Leadership & Coaching: Manage and mentor a team of BI analysts across two value stream pods. You will guide their career development, hold them accountable for high-performance standards, and foster a culture of autonomy and continuous feedback.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the "connective tissue" between your pods and the broader data organization. You will collaborate daily with Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, and Data Scientists to ensure technical strategies are threaded across teams.
  • Workflow & Skill Evolution: Continually evolve the team's technical and analytical capabilities. You will drive the adoption of modern practices in SQL and DBT, while championing the use of AI to accelerate analysis and increase the consistency of our insights.
  • Operational Excellence: Identify opportunities for synergy across teams, establish clear measures for project success (KPIs/SLOs), and manage the operational costs and resource utilization for your pods.
  • Tactical Contribution & Technical Delivery: While your primary focus is leadership, you aren't afraid to "get your hands dirty" when needed. You will act as a senior practitioner, contributing directly to complex data modeling, the development of scalable data assets, and the execution of advanced analytics to unblock the team or help tackle high-priority initiatives.
  • Strategic Enablement & Data Fluency: You will act as a bridge to our business teams, ensuring that new data assets don't just exist but are understood and utilized. This includes designing training programs for new data launches, evangelizing self-service capabilities, and driving the overall data fluency of our business partners to ensure insights lead to action.

Who you are

  • Experience: You have 7-10 years of experience working in data analytics or BI, and you have 3-4 years of experience managing analysts.
  • Strategic, Business-Oriented Partnership: You don't just "provide data"; you solve business problems. You have a track record of influencing executive stakeholders and navigating misaligned incentives to drive unified strategies.
  • Deep Technical & Analytical Experience: You possess a mastery of the modern data stack (SQL, DBT, BI visualization tools) and can provide "hands-on" guidance to analysts while maintaining a high-level strategic perspective.
  • Transformational Leadership: You are a practitioner of a generative culture. You have experience turning around complex team dynamics, motivating employees through periods of change, and using delegation as a tool for employee growth.
  • AI-First Mindset: You have a demonstrated history of identifying and deploying new tools to increase team velocity. You are eager to leverage AI-powered solutions to maximize the utility of data across the organization.
  • Growth & Systems Thinking: You navigate uncertainty with confidence and can translate abstract company strategies into concrete, actionable plans for multiple teams.
