The Email Campaigns Manager is responsible for supporting the Heart & Stroke organization, leading the planning, execution, optimization, and reporting on email marketing initiatives that support fundraising, stewardship, and mission-impact goals across the organization.
This role acts as a day-to-day lead for campaign development, ensuring that all email programs are executed with precision, follow best practices, and contribute to meaningful constituent engagement.
Working closely with the Director, Email Campaigns, the Manager will drive email campaign strategy and translate it into actionable work plans. In addition to email strategy, they will be responsible with managing production timelines, coordinating with partners such as IT, analytics, and agency partners, and ensuring all campaigns are compliant, high-quality, and performance-driven.
They will be required to lead core campaigns from a strategic and workflow standpoint, as well as work as part of large integrated cross functional teams on larger initiatives- like journey’s.
This position requires strong attention to detail, strategic oversight of email initiatives, project management expertise, and the ability to lead collaborative effort across multiple business units.
How you will make an impact every day
Campaign Planning, Management and Execution
- Lead end-to-end development and execution of email campaigns and journeys including planning, briefing, content preparation, QA, deployment, and post-campaign reporting, in partnership with business leads.
- Coordinate cross-functional workflows to keep campaign requirements clear and timelines aligned.
- Partner with IT, Analytics, Agency, Content Services, and others to deliver high quality and performance-based email campaigns
- Translate organizational fundraising and mission priorities into clear campaign requirements and technical build needs.
- Develop email strategies and annual campaign operation plans.
- Provide guidance on campaign calendars, timelines, and workflow documentation
- Proactively mitigate risks, resolve bottlenecks, or resource constraints.
- Ensure all campaigns adhere to CASL, privacy policies, brand guidelines, accessibility standards, and email best practices.
Email Strategy and Analysis
- Work closely with the Director, Specialists, and internal business partners to translate organizational priorities into actionable email strategies and campaign plans.
- Partner with Fundraising, Community, Lottery, Mission, and Digital teams to understand their goals, target audiences, and desired constituent behaviors and align email campaigns strategy to their goals.
- Provide expertise on strategic approaches to campaign structure, messaging frameworks, segmentation, timing, and frequency to maximize engagement and conversions.
- Contribute to campaign briefs that clearly outline objectives, insights, audience definitions, content direction, and performance targets.
- Analyze performance trends to refine strategies and play an active role in proactively translating data into insights and leading improvements for future campaigns and ensuring learnings are consistently applied.
- Lead the integration of testing and experimentation into campaign strategies and drive continuous improvement.
Channel Operations & Governance
- Uphold email governance rules, naming conventions, and documentation standards.
- Assist the Director in enforcing prioritization processes and inbox management guidelines across business units.
- Lead the implementation of new platform features, email enhancements, automations, with the support of Email Marketing Specialist.
- Support with Agency Management in prioritization of resources, project management.
Email campaigns innovation
- Stay up to date with email marketing innovations, trends, and best practices, including design, data management, and external integrations.
- Identify opportunities for campaign optimization across the customer lifecycle, championing personalization and segmentation to improve engagement.
- As part of the Constituent Experience, Data, and Innovation Team, work on and propose innovative customer journey’s
Who we need
Education
- Post secondary degree with a focus in marketing or business strategy
- 7 years of digital marketing experience, with a focus on email marketing.
- Experience with marketing automation platforms (Salesforce Marketing Cloud preferred). Hands-on experience a plus.
- Experience with segmentation, data-driven personalization, reporting, and analytics.
- Experience in stakeholder management
- Agency management or agency experience an asset
Skills
- Strong understanding of email best practices, deliverability, segmentation, and automation.
- Understanding of email creative and effective messaging
- Strong analytical skills, able to translate data into insights.
- Exceptional project management skills with an ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Detail-oriented with strong QA discipline.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and manage stakeholder expectations.
- Skilled in Excel, Google Analytics, and email performance reporting.
- Knowledge of fundraising environments or not-for-profit marketing is an asset.
