Location : Toronto (office at 2 Lansing Square but work across full GTA with a team with international footprint).

The Vice President of Sales develops and executes strategies to drive growth and market share within the payment processing industry.

Our team is the largest in Canada with experts whose know-how covers all facets of payment processing. Our experts intimately understand all the technical, operational and business issues of payment systems. Their interventions are supported by a solid mastery of international standards and best practices applicable to payment processing.

You will have overall responsibility for sales strategy development, execution, sales team leadership and collaboration. You will manage a team of sales professionals and work closely with the other members of the executive team. As VP of Sales, you will report to the Executive Vice President.

Note: Travel is required as needed (approximately 25-50%). This position is mostly remote and attached to our headquarters in Toronto.

What you will do

Sales Strategy and Execution (acquisition, upsell, retention):

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies, setting ambitious targets, and driving the achievement of goals.
  • Build and maintain a high-performance sales team, providing guidance, coaching, and support to maximize their potential.
  • Foster strong relationships with key customers, strategic partners, resellers, and industry influencers to expand the company's market reach.
  • Lead the sales forecasting process, monitor sales performance, and implement corrective measures when necessary.
  • Stay updated on market trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities to identify new sales prospects and capitalize on market shifts.

Product and Competitive Positioning:

  • Collaborate closely with the product development team to align product roadmap and enhancements with market demands and customer needs.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and market research to identify unique selling propositions and develop strategies to differentiate our software offerings.
  • Work cross-functionally with product management, sales, and marketing teams to develop effective sales tools, collateral, and presentations.

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Build and lead a high-performing sales organization, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to team members, empowering them to achieve their full potential.
  • Foster collaboration and effective communication between sales, and other internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and shared goals.
  • Participate in executive-level discussions and decision-making processes, contributing strategic insights and recommendations to support overall company growth.

What we are looking for

  • 15+ years in payment processing industry (Retail/B2B).
  • A documented history / portfolio of success in driving sales strategy for software solutions and major accounts (including VAR and partner programs).
  • Detailed and extensive industry knowledge, including understanding of the full length and breadth of the payment processing industry and detailed insight into the competitive landscape
  • Knowledge of sales trends, industry standards, and success strategies for a Challenger sales organization.
  • Effective leadership skills to include decision-making, presentation, and organization skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate consistent closing techniques throughout the sales cycle.

What would make you stand out

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, sales, or marketing or equivalent training in business or sales management.
  • Proven ability to manage the financial aspect of a team (P&L)
  • Ability to manage multiple, diverse projects and sales events simultaneously.
  • Experience in large retail, quick service restaurant, and tier 1/2 merchants  
  • Experience in payment processing, gateways, certification and contact and contactless payment systems 
  • Experience with SalesForce (sales funnel, reporting, dashboard)
  • Experience with International Sales
