Job Summary and Purpose:

Software is becoming more important in the IT infrastructure space. Providing a lifecycle approach to supporting our clients is key to maintaining a value- based relationship with them and creating future revenue streams for GDT. The lifecycle methodology helps clients during the presales phase align applications and buying models with the clients desired business objectives. After the sale, the methodology continues to support the client adopt the applications, provide usage/adoption/value analytics and identify new ways the client can leverage the applications available to them in the buying model to maximize their investment. The Operations Director, Software Services is responsible for the overall management of our Software Lifecycle Management services that includes the processes, tools and ongoing innovation required to deliver value to our clients and partners. The Operations Director, Software Services also focuses on software pre-sales enablement, developing tools and processes for finding and landing new software clients and aiding GDT sales’ teams during deal pursuits. Additionally, this position seeks out new revenue streams including but not limited to Install Base Analytics and Software Asset Management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and continually improve the Software Lifecycle Management (SLM) services to maximize software consumption and market opportunity
    • Oversee the ongoing management of SLM program clients
    • Lead the improvement and development of new reporting tools to help support both presales and post sales
    • Proactive reporting – lead development of reporting tools to identify and help show justification for new consumption models
    • Value add reporting- improve on “ELA Effect” reports to help demonstrate the value the clients is getting from an Enterprise Agreement (EA) and identify areas clients can increase adoption to recognize more value
  • Manage a team of BI specialists / developers that will enhance existing tools that document current software lifecycle management
  • Manage both internal employees and contractors required to deliver software adoption and tracking at EA clients as appropriate
  • Accountable for ensuring that functional design including structure, policies and procedures are effective and efficient
  • Migrate the SDM function from being a customer advocate to a proactive function in driving software adoption to maximize the client’s investment
    • Assist with the onboarding of new software programs
    • Educate on how to access software
    • Provide proactive reports on consumption and value
    • Identify areas DD can help drive adoption with additional services (ie. Managed or ITaaS)
    • Facilitate the introduction of other services as part of the software lifecycle program
    • Identify other potential software applications GDT could capture as part of the lifecycle program
    • Elevate client relationships through the proliferation of lifecycle management
    • Manage the EA renewal process
  • Integrate overall service portfolio into SSO GTM by identifying solutions that can help drive adoption and acceleration of software (ie. Consulting, MS, etc)
  • Provides budget and financial analysis to ensures allocation of resources for the required delivery of Software Lifecycle Management services
  • Develop / implement a software asset management (SAM) platform to provide a single view of all software assets enabling GDT to capture a greater share of the client’s software spend.
    • Reconcile what has been purchased to what is being consumed
    • Apply software entitlements, vendor rules/models to determine better commercial structure Report on deployment and usage for compliance and improved adoption
    • Integrate reporting and SAM tools with top tier software portals for automation (ie. Cisco, EMC, VMware, etc)
    • Develop Self-Service Portal to support end user move, adds, changes
  • In the execution of the operations responsibilities outlined above there are a number of expectations that constitute best practice for the Operations Director.
