Galvanize USA

We are a nonpartisan civic empowerment program dedicated to supporting women in using their collective power to build an America that works for everyone—white, Black, and Brown. Our story began with our founder, Jackie Payne, who, after two decades in the gender equity field, became increasingly concerned by the rise of authoritarianism and the threats to democracy in the United States. Troubled by the number of women drawn to strongman leaders and frustrated with the condescending narrative that women were 'voting against their interests,' Jackie embarked on a two-year journey across the country to listen to and understand the women in our communities. She discovered that many women avoid conversations about current events due to fear of conflict, a lack of confidence in their knowledge, or the feeling that their views are not shared by others. This was especially true for women in rural and small-town America.

In response to these conversations, we created Galvanize USA in 2018 as a judgment-free community built by women, for women. We provide a supportive space where women can engage in honest conversations about the issues that matter most to them, ask questions, share ideas, and learn from one another without fear of argument or ridicule. We believe in fostering meaningful connections to combat the division and polarization that threaten our democracy. Our approach is rooted in research and science, developing strategies that bring women together to learn, share, and support each other. Through our digital community, Galvanize Together, and our various programs, we provide resources and tools to help women navigate the complexities of civic life, defend against disinformation, and build the confidence to make their voices heard. We are committed to unlocking the potential of every woman to become an agent of progress, creating a more just and equitable society for all.
