The Opportunity
Maintain deep understanding of Flock devices & technology capture data for the company’s customer platform
Follow Flock accounting policies and processes to account for subscriber system assets, and fixed assets
Evaluate internal and external costs monthly to calculate gross margin inputs and an appropriate cost basis for capitalization under Flock’s policy
Coordinate within the organization to stay current on asset use and deployment practices and communicate the findings to stakeholders in finance and beyond
Enforce criteria for changes in system asset status to accurately process all changes for US GAAP reporting
Perform the monthly close process within NetAsset including establishment of new assets, holds, transfers and disposals
Process monthly depreciation within NetAsset and perform offline analytics validating the expense with independent expectations based on activity in the asset register
Prepare rollforward and reconciliations monthly
Work cross functionally with data team and supply chain/operations teams to ensure activity in the business is accurately accounted for each period
Review monthly totals for Cost of Sales, evaluate and prepare accruals in partnership with FPA
Recommend improvements to fixed asset accounting; emphasis on consistently improving automation and accuracy
Maintain excellent documentation of all processes, changes, and period close files
Process and analyze large datasets for business insights and accurate accounting
Ad hoc analysis and reporting, including support of external audit, special projects and accounting for other assets as needed
The Skillset
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
5+ years of experience in accounting, with a focus on software or technology industries
CPA certification preferred
Big 4 CPA experience preferred
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and working knowledge of capitalization rules under ASC 360 and cost classification for Cost of Sales
Ability to translate business questions into data-driven analyses
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
NetSuite experience
Comfortable working with large volumes of data and advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel

90 Days at Flock

This serves as a preview of the 90-day plan you will receive if you were to be hired as a Senior Accountant at Flock Safety.
The First 30 Days
Observe the current close process for Subscriber System Assets, Fixed Assets & Cost of Sales. Maintain detailed notes from shadowing in preparation to take on each task in the following close cycles
Review the asset categories and underlying assets to understand their role in capturing data for the Flock Platform
Identify key reports within NetSuite and NetAsset and learn the parameters and commands to generate these. Document as needed.
Review the buckets of costs capitalized to in-service assets and understand the inputs for each category
The First 60 Days
Understand the data flow and handoffs in the monthly close for new, held and disposed assets
Review the import templates and asset processes that each corresponds to; develop clarity on all fields that are brought in from templates
Assist in the accruals for Costs of Sales, and the contra-accounting for capitalizable cost categories
Perform reconciliation of the in-service asset accounts and accumulated depreciation and preparation of the asset rollforward
90 Days & Beyond
Own the data processing for each step in the asset cycle
Perform the analysis for Asset Retirement Obligations and prepare the associated journals & reconciliations
Maintain the process & procedure documentation for responsibilities and update for new assets, activities and analyses
Perform analytics around proposed asset data as well as existing assets to identify any irregularities, changes in trend, and insights for discussion with stakeholders
The Interview Process

The Hiring Manager Interview: You will meet with your potential future boss to really dive into the role, the team, expectations, and what success means at Flock. This is your chance to really nerd out with someone in your field.
The Panel: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. Depending on the team and role you are interviewing for, you may meet with several teammates as well as cross-functional partners, all individually during one interview stage.
The Executive Review: A chance to meet an executive and view Flock from a different lens. Be prepared to ask well-thought-out questions about the company, culture, and more.
Salary & Equity
In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary of $100,000 - $105,000 as well as stock options. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators. Your recruiter will discuss this in-depth with you during our first chat.

At Flock Safety, we compensate our employees fairly for their work. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators.
