Salary Range

$85,000.00 To $105,000.00

A Brief Overview

The Business Analyst at FirstBank provides excellent customer service for internal customers, maintaining emphasis on external customer experience with service offerings including business process improvements at a variety of organizational levels. The Analyst works in a leadership capacity providing organization and focus, exercising strong communication and problem-solving while adapting and responding to customer needs.

What you will do

  • Utilize contemporary requirement elicitation practices to gather and organize product specifications.
  • Help teams stay on track by providing a clear focus and maintaining alignment with company strategy, considering both short-term and long-term objectives.
  • Apply Scrum and other Agile practices to emphasize iterative delivery and frequent feedback throughout the software delivery life cycle.
  • Apply techniques, practices, and communication that is best fit for the situation while maintaining customer focus.
  • Exhibit flexibility by adopting and piloting new practices and leading by example.
  • Enable and encourage stakeholders to collaborate and take action by utilizing visualization, diagrams and alternative representations of processes.
  • Work as a liaison between vendors, project sponsors, and project teams in order to build and foster trust when delivering a product.
  • Identify when to raise awareness about potential risks and communicate appropriately to leadership.
  • Work independently as a leader and mentor by identifying opportunities for process improvement including research to uncover underlying gaps or problems.
  • Expand practical application of Business Analysis concepts and techniques by pursuing formal and informal educational opportunities to further knowledge and skills such as requirements engineering methodologies and tools.
  • Pursue strategic training opportunities that lead to ideas for updates to FirstBank Business Analysis practices.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Understand and comply with all provisions of the Safety in the Workplace policy.

Minimum Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
  • A combination of post-high school education, job related certification and related experience equivalent to 5 years may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements

Preferred Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, other related field is preferred
  • Business Analyst Certification (CBAP), Scrum Master Certification (CSM) is preferred
  • Experience with various Agile project methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Exhibit strong communication skills from collection to expression of information with adaptability for various audiences ranging from staff level to senior leadership
  • Ability to help stakeholders articulate their problem definition focusing on requirements without proposing a solution
  • Facilitate and lead requirements elicitation, analysis and additional sessions needed to establish a clear goal; such as workshops or interviews with various groups of stakeholders
  • Ability to develop alternative views of requirements by creating illustrative forms including as-is/to-be workflows and process models (format/presentation)
  • Provide visibility into the progress of requirement development activities while highlighting the value delivered and potential risks
  • Establish and maintain relationships both within and across multiple teams
  • Ability to create documentation that is complete, consistent, unambiguous, verifiable that conforms to standards
  • Lead focused efforts to identify relevant details and parking lot items
  • Ability to analyze, communicate and adapt to impact of changes in requirements, priorities and business processes
  • Understand technical terminology in addition to Technology department structures, responsibilities and relationships
  • Apply analytical skills and critical thinking to evaluate and validate data and requirements obtained from multiple sources and expose new areas for elicitation
  • Demonstrate strong root-cause problem resolution and implement decisions of varying complexity
  • Ability to work independently and bring multiple efforts to completion simultaneously
  • Moderate familiarity with Project Management and Scrum methodology and concepts
  • Develop and maintain an awareness of operational processes and procedures across FirstBank
  • Proven ability to gain support for initiatives through influence and use of business rationale
  • Proficiency of computer applications including MS Office, Jira, Confluence or similar tools
  • Ability to develop and identify key performance indicators to recognize potential risks to requirement planning phases
  • Ability to understand technical solutions involving as Easy BI and SQL

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Frequently remains stationary throughout a typical business day
  • Frequently operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
  • Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and other rooms
  • Occasionally positions self to access drawers and shelves of various heights
  • Frequently reaches for and handles paperwork and files
  • Constantly communicates with customers, coworkers, and management in-person and on the phone
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information
  • FirstBank does not currently offer fully remote positions, except as required by law. The actual number of in-office days that may be required will vary by business unit, role, and business need.
