**Position is eligible for candidates who reside in the following states: WA, OR, ID, MT, SD, NE, UT, NM, AZ, IL, IA.**
Essential Functions:
Prepares and approves account renewals within established authority limits, with an emphasis on long-term profitability, retention, and alignment with region and company pricing objectives.
Applies underwriting guidelines and negotiation expertise to secure appropriate rates.
Conducts a comprehensive review of account details, including coverage provisions, claims history, and relevant updates or modifications.
Assesses the risk profile of each account to determine renewal eligibility in accordance with underwriting standards.
For accounts exceeding authority limits, compiles and presents necessary information for underwriter review and completion of the renewal process.
Maintains clear and proactive communication with agents to ensure all required renewal documentation is requested and obtained.
Engages in ongoing collaboration with underwriters throughout the renewal process, fostering a comprehensive approach to managing the agency’s book of business. Ensures accurate and thorough file documentation.
Facilitates the new business underwriting process by conducting a thorough analysis of submitted Acord and supplemental applications, loss runs, and additional underwriting documentation provided by agents.
Engages in proactive communication with agents to obtain any necessary underwriting information required for risk assessment.
Leverages loss history data and utilizes industry tools, such as CAB, OSHA databases, Betterview, and other relevant resources, to assess risk acceptability.
Establishes and maintains strong professional relationships with agents by delivering exceptional customer service, fostering policy renewal retention, and driving new business growth.
Engages in consistent and meaningful interactions through in-person meetings, virtual conferences, phone consultations, and written correspondence to strengthen partnerships.
Addresses agent inquiries and concerns regarding endorsements and renewals in a timely and effective manner, collaborating with internal teams to develop solutions that align with the objectives of both the carrier and the agency.
Underwrites and provides endorsement quotes to agents.
Assesses the potential risks associated with proposed endorsements, taking into account factors such as policy coverage, loss history and claims data to evaluate the overall impact on the policy.
Reviews and approves reinstatements and cancellations. Assists agents with policy billing inquiries.
Collaborates with experienced underwriters and territory management team members to develop understanding of company and branch risk appetite, underwriting resources, and systems.
Education & Experience:
Associate degree or equivalent relevant experience
One year of insurance industry experience or related experience
Bachelor’s degree may be considered in lieu of the insurance industry experience requirement
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong attention to detail and accurate data entry skills
Good computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft products
General knowledge of insurance terminology
Good problem-solving and decision-making skills
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
Strong negotiation skills
Ability to work in a team setting as well as independently
The hiring salary range for this position will vary based on geographic location, falling within either of the following:
$51,201 - $70,730 or $56,581 - $77,796A hiring range represents a subset of the full salary range. The actual salary will depend on several factors, including relevant education, skills, and experience of an applicant, geographic location, and business needs.
