As eJam expands, we are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant, to join our growing team. As a member of our finance team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of general accounting operations.

Founded in 2017, eJam is a direct-to-consumer brand incubator; focused on creating products that people love. Today, we own and operate a portfolio of brands with products that put you first. The Senior Accountant's primary focus is on managing the monthly close process and the preparation of accurate financial statements, ensuring adherence to deadlines and compliance with accounting standards. This role involves close collaboration with the accounting staff, including the Cost Accountant, Full Charge Bookkeepers, and AR Specialist, to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across all accounting operations. By overseeing the end-to-end accounting cycle, the Senior Accountant plays a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity and operational excellence of the company.

The Responsibilities:

Monthly Close Management

  • Lead Monthly Close Process: Coordinate and manage the entire monthly close process to ensure timely, accurate, and complete financial reporting.
  • Journal Entries and Reconciliations: Prepare and review complex journal entries and account reconciliations as part of the closing process.
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Take charge of preparing accurate monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

Accuracy and Compliance

  • Ensure Accounting Accuracy: Oversee accounting entries and adjustments made by the team to ensure they are accurate and comply with GAAP and other applicable standards.
  • Compliance Oversight: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting regulations and standards. Ensure all financial processes, reports, and records comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Audit Support: Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external auditors during audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations to support financial records.

Efficiency and Process Improvement

  • Streamline Closing Processes: Continuously seek and implement ways to shorten the monthly close cycle while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
  • Automate Processes: Identify opportunities for automation within the accounting process to increase efficiency and reduce the risk of errors.
  • Best Practices Implementation: Stay informed about industry best practices in accounting and financial reporting, and implement these practices within the team.

Team Collaboration and Leadership

  • Collaborate with Accounting Team: Work closely with the Cost Accountant, Full Charge Bookkeepers, and AR Specialist to ensure all financial activities are aligned and support the monthly close process.
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Liaise with other departments to ensure transactions are accurately captured in the financial statements and to gather information necessary for financial reporting.
  • Guide and Review Work of Accounting Staff: Provide guidance and oversight to the accounting staff, reviewing their work for accuracy and compliance, and offering feedback and training to improve their skills.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Management Reporting: Prepare and present reports to management that summarize the company's financial status, highlighting key trends, variances from budget, and any issues identified during the close process.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct detailed financial analyses as part of the closing process to provide insights into financial performance and support decision-making.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Inventory accounting experience for e-commerce companies
  • Hands-on experience with QuickBooks
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills and work ethics
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
