Job Purpose:
We are looking for a Senior IT Specialist with extensive experience in GIS technologies—specifically ESRI ArcGIS and Schneider Electric ArcFM—combined with a strong background in test engineering. This role is ideal for a highly skilled GIS professional who brings 10+ years of experience in supporting and optimizing Esri-based platforms including ArcMap, ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcFM, while leveraging tools like LoadRunner for performance testing and analysis.
As a key contributor to our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and high performance of GIS applications supporting electric and gas utility operations. We are seeking someone who is proactive, technically astute, and comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, support, and performance optimization of enterprise GIS environments, including ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server, and ArcFM.
- Develop and implement performance testing scripts using LoadRunner, particularly within Citrix-based environments, to simulate user activity and uncover system performance limitations.
- Partner with software developers, database administrators, and infrastructure teams to deliver stable, high-performing GIS solutions.
- Perform comprehensive system performance tuning at all levels—application, database, and infrastructure—to address performance issues and enhance user experience.
- Build custom GIS tools and applications tailored to utility workflows to streamline operations and enhance data accessibility.
- Interpret test results, system logs, and performance metrics to identify trends, problems, and areas for improvement.
- Manage system upgrades, patches, and enhancements, ensuring minimal disruption to operational workflows.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior team members and help define best practices for testing, monitoring, and GIS solution implementation.
- Document system designs, performance testing strategies, support procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, GIS, Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience supporting and engineering GIS systems, preferably within utility sectors (electric/gas/water).
- In-depth knowledge of ArcFM, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcMap, and associated Esri technologies.
- Practical experience using LoadRunner (or similar tools) for performance and load testing.
- Expertise in performance tuning of GIS applications and backend databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle).
- Proven ability to simulate high-volume user activity and develop strategies to ensure system responsiveness and stability.
- Strong proficiency in Python, particularly using ArcPy for scripting, automation, and testing.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in Agile environments and managing responsibilities with minimal supervision.
