Travel School Instructor – Direct Travel Academy – Remote

As a key member of the Direct Travel team, the Direct Travel Academy Instructor will be responsible for providing a virtual educational atmosphere and relationship where students have the opportunity to learn the basic skills required for a career in the travel industry. This person is responsible for organizing, distributing, grading, and counseling the instructional program that will result in students achieving a level of knowledge to begin a career in the travel industry. Students are remote and study individually at their own pace.
This role will work closely with and report to the Manager of Direct Travel Academy.
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to provide instructional support for our students to help them meet established learning objectives and personal learning goals. This is done by providing constructive, focused feedback on student assignments and projects, as well as answering student questions via email and phone.
Expedition Expectations
- Implements instructional activities that contribute to an active learning dialog with students.
- Recommends modification to instructional resources to meet the needs of the students as the travel industry evolves.
- Maintains effective and efficient record keeping for student grades.
- Evaluate students’ progress and understanding of material presented.
- Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, and other professionals on a regular basis.
- Collaborates with peers to enhance the instructional environment.
- Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, peers, and community.
- Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating.
- Curriculum update recommendations as the travel industry changes and evolves.
- Plan, implement and host weekly lecture / interactive workshops for students.
- Answer student questions via email and phone.
- Review and assess students’ projects and assignments.
- Compile and submit ongoing accreditation activities.
- Participate in accreditation requirements as needed.
Passport to Success
- High school education required (bachelor's degree preferred)
- Two years' experience in travel in the relevant subject of the curriculum
- Possesses strong oral and written communication skills
- Work independently and think critically
- Work as part of a team
- Accepts responsibility and is self-motivated
- Demonstrates strong work ethic to achieve goals
- Displays effective multi-tasking and time management skills
