The Senior Network Engineer position establishes data networks by installing, operating and maintaining data network circuits and equipment.
Requirements
- Install, support and maintain hardware and software infrastructure according to best practices, including routers, switches, access points, load balancers and firewalls
- Plans, designs, engineers and constructs network system
- Remains current on job-specific and department topics through training courses, workshops, seminars, professional organizations, professional publications, conferences, professional association shows, etc.
- Directs projects assigned by management by planning plans of action, resource allocation and monitoring progress.
- Researches and evaluates the capabilities and costs of new and available technologies, and makes recommendations to the Network Architect and Network Manager regarding improvements, purchases and cost-saving measures.
- Interacts with teammate, vendors, and other members of the village to obtain and disseminate information, advise on projects, resolve conflicts, set priorities, coordinate activities, complete projects within time and budget constraints, and provide assistance.
- Provides ongoing technical and operational assistance for all network systems serviced by the Netsys Team, schedules and oversees contracted maintenance and repair services, and provides consultation and assistance as assigned to system developers to ensure compatibility of systems around the village
- Creates manuals and or reference guides for use by system users to provide information needed to operate assigned network equipment and systems
- Mentor Junior engineers and direct Operations team on builds
- Trains end users in the use of various kinds of network equipment in classroom and on-site settings.
- Verifies service by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms; identifying, correcting, or escalating problems.
- Maintains network by troubleshooting and repairing outages; testing network back-up procedures; updating documentation.
