CorpsAfrica

CorpsAfrica is a nonprofit organization that empowers African youth to lead sustainable community development initiatives in their home countries.

About CorpsAfrica

CorpsAfrica was founded in 2011 by former Peace Corps Volunteer Liz Fanning with the goal of empowering college-educated African youth to address and solve pressing challenges in their own communities. Inspired by her experiences and discussions with Moroccans who wished to serve in a capacity similar to Peace Corps volunteers, Fanning recognized that young Africans are uniquely positioned to drive sustainable change in their communities. CorpsAfrica's model is built on the belief that local changemakers can effectively carry out community development efforts that are grounded in the realities and needs of the communities they serve.

Since its establishment, CorpsAfrica has expanded its reach across several African countries, including Malawi, Senegal, Morocco, and Rwanda, providing opportunities for more than eight hundred volunteers to engage in community-driven solutions. Each volunteer commits to a year of service, during which they collaborate with local residents to identify priority areas and implement projects that have a measurable impact. This innovative approach not only addresses local challenges such as poverty and lack of resources but also offers participants invaluable personal growth and professional development experiences. CorpsAfrica aims to transform the landscape of development within Africa, placing trust in the capability of its people to address issues unique to their contexts.
