Hi, we’re CompanyCam.

We’re a simple-to-use photo documentation and productivity app for contractors of all commercial and home services industries. Packed with intuitive functionality, CompanyCam facilitates unparalleled communication and accountability across a contractor’s entire business. We’re committed to providing a consumer-grade, game-changing experience that helps our users build trust within their company and with their customers.

But don’t let that corporate description fool you—the people behind our buttoned-up product are laid-back (but hardworking), genuine, and kickass, and you could be one of them!

The Role

We’re hiring a Senior Product Designer for our Camera team.

This role is for someone who knows how to design for mobile and for field work in the real world. You’ll design experiences for contractors using CompanyCam in the field: on job sites, in tight spaces, often one-handed, moving quickly, and away from a desk. Experience designing for hardware devices and cameras is strongly preferred. Mobile experience is required.

We’re looking for someone with a high level of craft, strong product judgment, and the ability to elevate the work around them. CompanyCam enables AI use in ways most companies don't, and we're looking for someone who lights up at that. Your thinking, execution, standards, and AI workflows should push the team forward and raise the quality of what we ship and how we operate.

Remote: Candidates must permanently and currently reside in the United States. Employees are not required to work in the office or relocate to Lincoln, Nebraska, for this opportunity. Employees are encouraged to come hang at headquarters for up to 10 days per calendar year on CompanyCam's dime.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and drive design projects for the Camera team, utilizing the CDH (Continuous Discovery Habits) framework.
  • Anticipate challenges, proactively define success paths, and tie design efforts toward delivering tangible business value.
  • Work cross-functionally with Product and Engineering to ensure alignment on learning goals, success metrics, and execution of design solutions.
  • Communicate design decisions effectively with solid rationale, actively soliciting feedback, and fostering efficient communication with your team and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Raise the bar for the broader design team by bringing outside perspective, diverse process experience, and a mindset of continuous improvement.
  • Mentor contributor-level designers, helping to up-level the team through critiques, workshops, and open, honest feedback.
  • Contribute to and evolve our design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across products.
  • Advocate for accessibility and usability, ensuring inclusive experiences for all users.

The Impact You'll Have

At CompanyCam, your work makes a real impact. Whether you're writing code, supporting customers, or designing experiences, your contributions directly shape the product we deliver and the people we serve. We're building something that helps real people solve real problems—and we believe that kind of work is best done by a team that reflects the world around us. In this role, you’ll drive impact by:

  • Helping build and shape the Camera team from the ground up — this is a rare opportunity to define how a core product area looks, feels, and works.
  • Designing for real people doing real work in the field, and continuously learning from them through user research and feedback.
  • Taking ownership of product areas end-to-end — connecting day-to-day design work to the broader product vision and long-term strategy.
  • Elevating the design team's collective bar by bringing diverse experience, perspective, and process from across the industry.

What You'll Bring

Core Requirements (non-negotiable)

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Designer, with at least 2+ shipping features for a SaaS product.
  • Strong mobile product design experience. Candidates without mobile experience will not be considered.
  • Experience designing for real-world device interactions and constrained environments (e.g. camera, hardware, field-based tools).
  • A high level of craft and product judgment, with a track record of improving the quality of work around you.
  • Deep foundation in UX principles, with the ability to think in workflows, not just screens.
  • Experience with camera-based products or workflows.

What Sets You Apart

  • Experience working across different product environments, especially SaaS bringing perspective that elevates how teams think and build.
  • Strong problem-framing skills and comfort operating in ambiguous spaces.
  • Ability to clearly articulate decisions, tradeoffs, and rationale to cross-functional partners.
  • Experience mentoring or influencing other designers through feedback and collaboration.
  • Excitement for using AI as part of your design workflow and pushing how it can improve how we build.
  • A continuous growth mindset. You embrace challenges, learn quickly, and redefine the problem and solution with continuous user feedback.

Nice to Have

  • Formal education in Human-Computer Interaction, Product Design, or a related field (graduate-level is a plus, not a requirement).
  • Experience designing agentic or AI-driven experiences.

The only app every contractor needs.

Document your jobs. Communicate with your crews. Cover your company’s butt.

CompanyCam exists purely to make fun of our CEO, Luke Hansen. We tell investors, though, that we exist to help contractors build trust with their crews and customers (which is also true, so it doesn’t count as lying).

In 2014, Luke was working for his family’s roofing business and found himself spending too much time trying to get his crews to document job sites. He looked around for software to make his life easier, and found an astrology app — but nothing that would help with the documenting-jobs thing.

Luke decided to make a solution “himself” — so he hired a local software company. Together they created the first version of CompanyCam, but that was only the beginning. Since then we’ve grown, changed, and adapted to stay ahead of our users’ trades. We embrace change and improvement, and we continue to add new features and integrations.

In 2021, we received a $30 million investment, which we are putting right back into our product and customers like the responsible adults we occasionally are. We are proud of our app, but CompanyCam’s value is in our people — employees, customers, investors, and stakeholders are our greatest assets.

And we’re not done yet.

Why CompanyCam?

Did you wake up this morning with a burning desire to build or market an app for roofers, remodelers, or plumbers? No? I didn’t think so. I admit, it’s not something one thinks about without some prompting. But bear with me for a moment…

Contractors are everywhere. They build our homes, they literally put roofs over our heads, they wire up our electricity, give us access to the internet, fix our plumbing and AC, paint our homes, the list goes on.

At CompanyCam, you’ll work with intelligent, kind people to make contractors’ work easier and create time for them, so they can get shit done and spend more time with their families or on other things they care about. Sound corny? You’ll find that mid-westerner ethos permeate our culture (we’re based in Lincoln, NE), so if you can’t hang with that, no hard feelings, but this probably isn’t the best place for you.

What’s It Like to Work at CompanyCam?

Life at CompanyCam is many things. It’s exciting, it’s fast-paced, it’s often mildly inappropriate, and it’s where shit gets done. We’ve got big plans for CompanyCam, and we’ve found that when people are excited to come to work, they’re more excited to execute those big plans.

Our company is tight knit, collaborative, supportive, and laid back. Everyone has a vested interest in making sure people are happy here. We like people who know how to have a good time while doing good work, who can take a joke and put our CEO Luke in his place. We take birthdays seriously, Free Lunch Friday is basically a holiday, and our team bonding events are no joke. We work hard, we arguably play much harder.

You spend 40 hours of your life at work each week, why not make ’em enjoyable?
