Job Title: DoD Portfolio Manager
Job Summary:
As a DoD Portfolio Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the IT projects and initiatives within the Department of Defense. You will be responsible for ensuring that IT portfolios align with strategic goals, stay within budget, and meet project deadlines. This role requires a strong background in IT project management, a deep understanding of the Department of Defense's specific needs, and excellent communication and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Portfolio Oversight: Manage a portfolio of IT projects and initiatives, ensuring that they align with the DoD's strategic objectives and contribute to the overall mission.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement IT portfolio strategies, roadmaps, and plans that support the department's long-term objectives.
- Budget Management: Monitor and control the budget for the IT portfolio, ensuring that projects are delivered within allocated funds and resources.
- Project Prioritization: Collaborate with key stakeholders to prioritize projects and allocate resources based on organizational priorities.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and issues within the portfolio and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all IT projects within the portfolio adhere to government regulations, security standards, and best practices.
- Performance Tracking: Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the progress and success of projects within the portfolio.
- Vendor Management: Oversee contracts, agreements, and relationships with IT vendors and contractors, ensuring they meet performance standards and deliverables.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with various stakeholders, including senior management, project teams, and external partners.
- Team Leadership: Lead a team of IT professionals responsible for managing individual projects within the portfolio.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Management, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) and Agile CSM certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT project management, with at least 3 years in a portfolio management role.
- In-depth knowledge of Department of Defense processes, regulations, and security requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Demonstrated leadership and decision-making abilities.
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for security clearance as required by the Department of Defense.
