About the Role
We’re a collaborative team of product managers, designers, backend, frontend, and quality automation engineers that genuinely enjoys working together. We are looking for a new team member who has passion for building great products with simplicity, usability, scalability, and reliability in mind. The ideal candidate is passionate about automation, code quality, test optimization, and integration testing, while also striving to improve the quality assurance process, identify areas of enhancement, and increase automation across the spectrum.
Responsibilities
- Own Copilot BE integration/E2E strategy (CRM integration, calendar, recorder, call processing, AI extraction) with measurable coverage goals.
- Turn ambiguous requirements into testable contracts; plan/author scenarios early with PM/Eng.
- Build and evolve Java-based automation frameworks using proper LLD [SOLID, extensible, maintainable etc].
- Implement service & contract testing (REST/gRPC, mocks/stubs, CDC) and validate async/event flows (queues/streams).
- Harden CI/CD quality gates (tiered test suites, parallelism, quarantine/deflake strategy) and integrate with developer workflows.
- Measure & raise coverage/reliability across APIs, contracts, and critical journeys; track quality/flake metrics.
- Debug complex distributed issues (HTTP, auth, data, logs/traces, DB) and drive RCA; improve test observability and test data/fixtures.
- Partner & mentor: influence designs for testability, assess regression blast radius, codify standards, and grow shared testing foundations.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of backend/API testing experience with increasing ownership.
- Expert Java for test automation and framework design; comfortable reading Node.js/Python services.
- Hands-on with TestNG/JUnit, RestAssured, build tools (Maven/Gradle), and CI (GitHub Actions/Jenkins).
- Strong LLD/OO design (SOLID), clean abstractions, and code review discipline for test code.
- Deep experience with REST/gRPC, API contracts, auth (OAuth/SAML), contract testing (e.g., WireMock/Pact), and negative/edge-case design.
- Proven debugging across distributed systems: logs/traces, HTTP, queues/streams, data stores, and service boundaries.
- Practical SQL (Postgres/MySQL) and working knowledge of NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB); confident with data setup/validation.
- Familiar with containers/cloud (Docker/Kubernetes, AWS/GCP), secrets/config, and environment management.
- Strong requirements elicitation, risk identification, and stakeholder communication.
- Exposure to event-driven systems (Kafka/SQS/PubSub) and streaming/recording pipelines.
- Non-functional testing exposure: performance/load/resilience (e.g., JMeter/Gatling, chaos techniques).
Perks & Benefits
- Flexible working hours and hybrid work opportunities
- Life and accidental coverage
- Mental health support provided by Modern Health
- 100% paid parental leave
- Discretionary paid time off, monthly ‘take a break’ days, and Focus Fridays
- Focus on culture: Charitable giving match, plus in-person and virtual events
