About Church
What began in a humble two-car garage in 1996 has blossomed into a global ministry that touches millions of lives weekly. Life.Church was started by Craig and Amy Groeschel in Edmond, Oklahoma, with a small but faith-filled group of 40 people. Their vision was simple yet profound: to lead people to become fully devoted followers of Christ. This foundational mission has been the driving force behind every decision, innovation, and expansion in the years since. The early days were marked by rapid growth, and by 1999, the burgeoning congregation moved into its first dedicated facility. A pivotal moment came in 2001 with the merger of MetroChurch, a local nondenominational church, which marked Life.Church's transition into a multi-site church, a model they would come to pioneer and perfect.
Embracing technology as a powerful tool for ministry, Life.Church has consistently been at the forefront of digital evangelism. In 2006, they launched their Internet Campus, broadcasting interactive worship services live online and making church accessible to people regardless of their physical location. This spirit of innovation led to the creation of the YouVersion Bible App in 2008, which has since become the most downloaded Bible app in history, putting the scriptures into the hands of hundreds of millions around the globe. From its origins as Life Covenant Church to its present identity, the organization has evolved, but its core commitment to 'do anything short of sin to reach people who don't know Christ' has remained steadfast. Today, with dozens of physical locations across the United States and a massive online community, Life.Church continues its journey, characterized by irrational generosity, a passion for serving the global Church, and an unwavering focus on its founding mission.
