Our British Gas Zero team is seeking an outstanding and deeply customer focused individual to take on a Business Development Manager role in our Net Zero Business Development Team. In this role you will help develop and deliver a detailed business development plan and execution roadmap with the opportunity to be part of a team of business development professionals focused on growing the Net Zero Business.

Location: With our Flexible First working arrangements we empower our colleagues to work in a way that best suits them, however for this role you must be based within reasonable commuting distance of London and the surrounding areas.

You will be responsible for helping to source, develop and close new business opportunities including partnerships within industry, governmental, commercial and other relevant prospects to support the growth of the Net Zero Business.

You will bring a unique blend of business acumen, solid understanding of the Net Zero Market with the ability to operate in a fast-paced international organisation and communicate with stakeholders at a senior level.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support the business in their journey to net zero carbon by being a subject matter expert in products and solutions.
  • Support British Gas Zero clients in their journey to net zero carbon working with them to formulate their strategy and take advantage of funding opportunities.
  • Identifies suitable sales opportunity by contacting potential clients, discovering, and exploring how our contracting solutions best meet the needs of the client.
  • Nurture and manage a pipeline of new business opportunities to ensure delivery of the sales plan.
  • Develop and maintain customer account plans that capture strategic goals, tactics, and activity.
  • Provide innovative solutions to influence clients, leveraging the wider British Gas brand and propositions as appropriate.
  • Maintain high standards of service and be an ambassador of the British Gas Zero and British Gas brand values.
  • Account management working with existing clients to drive new work streams and opportunities.

Who are we looking for?

  • Excellent networking and presentation skills along with a high level of self-motivation
  • Proven ability to initiate and close business opportunities.
  • Proven ability to co-create agreements that are in line with the proposition (technical and legal knowledge)
  • Awareness and understanding of the energy market and the transition to a Net Zero economy.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem resolution skills
  • Able to plan and organise the work of themselves and others to ensure the achievement of targets and outcomes.
