About the team

The Space Engineering team ensures that all of Canva's office technology functions at its best. Our core services include internet connectivity, core networking, physical access, and AV technology.

Alongside our these services, the team owns a growing portfolio of automation recipes, allowing us to extend our service offerings in new and exciting ways, all with the aim of providing the best experience for Canvanauts across our global campuses.

About the role

This position is for the Space Engineering team. The role requires a hands-on approach, balancing technical work, project management, and stakeholder management. The Space Engineering team proactively provide support and diagnose an array of network (Firewalls, Switches, Access Points), AV (Cameras, DSPs, Amplifiers) and security hardware (Access Control Systems, CCTV Cameras) present throughout Canva's offices.

There is also a focus on creating designs for new system implementations that are reliable and secure. The candidate should be equally comfortable making changes to automation code, troubleshooting a low-level videoconferencing problem or heading on-site to diagnose a network interruption.

Role Responsibilities:

• Working with ISPs to establish and maintain reliable and secure internet connectivity
• Designing, Installing and supporting Canva Campus network infrastructure.
• Implementing and enhancing AV systems for both meeting and event spaces
• Designing, Installing and supporting Canva Campus physical access systems including door access systems, security cameras and integrations into fire and alarm systems
• Collaborating with vendors to trial new hardware and products
• Resolving hardware and configuration-related issues as required for our core systems
• Project managing our site builds and upgrade projects
• Responding to service alerts and support channels
• Participating in the team on-call schedule

In addition to these technical responsibilities, the candidate will work closely with our End User Computing, Security and Vibe teams across the globe to ensure that all Canvanauts have the best possible experience.

This will involve identifying areas where workplace technology solutions and automation can be leveraged to improve workflows and productivity and ensuring that the technology infrastructure is aligned with the company's long-term goals.

Required Experience:

• Experience with Cisco Meraki - installing, configuration, maintaining and troubleshooting firewalls, switches, access points
• Monitoring and Alerting - Experience with SaaS and local monitoring tools such as Auvik, Datadog, LogicMonitor, OpsGenie and ScienceLogic
• Experience with Google and Zoom Rooms administration
• Experience with making technical business processes more efficient through automation
• Experience with Installing, Managing and maintaining Physical Access Control systems such as Kisi
• Network troubleshooting - Wifi connectivity, RF Survey tools, Wireshark, Performance issues
• Knowledge of standard meeting room and event space AV technologies, system design and troubleshooting
• Experience with Physical Access Control systems.
• Project management skills - Managed large-scale projects with direct reporting to business leadership
• Vendor management experience - Managed vendor contracts worth over $200,000 per year
