Position Overview
BME Strategies, a fast-growing, mission-driven consulting firm focused on advancing health equity and public health systems, is seeking a skilled and adaptable Proposal Writer to join our growing Business Development (BD) team. This role will play a key part in crafting clear, compelling, and responsive proposals to secure state and local contracts. Working within a fast-moving, collaborative environment, the Proposal Writer will partner with technical leads, subcontractors, and the broader BD team to develop high-quality written content that reflects BME’s values, capabilities, and voice.

Key Responsibilities
- Write, edit, and tailor content for proposals and grant applications across public health domains
- Translate technical input from subject matter experts into clear, persuasive narrative responses
- Draft and refine key sections such as technical approaches, capability statements, past performance, staffing, and work plans
- Maintain and update content libraries and boilerplate materials
- Ensure proposals meet all formatting, compliance, and submission requirements
- Collaborate with Proposal Managers and Practice Leads to develop timelines and deliverables
- Contribute to knowledge management and proposal archives
- Collaborate with leadership to prioritize target markets and agencies for strategic expansion
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional writing experience, preferably in consulting, public health, nonprofit, or government settings
- Strong storytelling and editing skills with ability to synthesize information into persuasive narratives
- Experience writing state or municipal proposals, RFPs, or RFQs is a strong plus
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management and project coordination skills
- Ability to balance multiple deadlines and work independently in a remote environment
- Familiarity with public health concepts and equity-centered language is preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Google Workspace, and content collaboration tools
Working Conditions
- Remote work, with occasional travel to client sites, conferences, or meetings as required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced consulting environment.
