The Role
As a Satellite Remote Terminal Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Babcock have been awarded the contract to manage the infrastructure for the UK MOD satellite network, Skynet.

Day-to-day, you’ll undertake preventative and corrective maintenance on land-based satellite communication terminals. This will involve maintaining the equipment to agreed levels of availability. The maintenance work covers; Electrical Safety Inspection and Test, Generator Servicing and Test, Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) Inspection and Test, RF Equipment Testing and Repair, Software and Baseband Testing and Repair, and General Equipment Repair.

  • Deliver on land-based satellite communication terminals to customers on UK sites in accordance with agreed delivery profiles.
  • Be part of the provision for 24/7/365 telephone support, UK and worldwide to all customers such that agreed levels of terminal availability are maintained.
  • Aim to resolve all support calls efficiently as possible within contracted timescales to maintain terminal availability.
  • Provide UK on site field support to all customers such that agreed levels of equipment availability are maintained.
  • Ensure a highly effective customer service culture is developed for the technical maintenance and support department with all employees fully dedicated to ensuring that, Infrastructure Management is recognised as the number one provider of choice for all customers.

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on site at Oakhanger, Hampshire.

Essential Experience of the Satellite Remote Terminal Engineer

  • Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills and stakeholder management experience.
  • IT Literate, MS Word, Excel, Access.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and interpret the system under fault conditions.

Qualifications for the Satellite Remote Terminal Engineer

  • Higher National Certificate in Electrical or Communications Engineering or equivalent.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
