Java Engineering Intern

Overview

We are seeking our new Java Engineering Intern to join the Axway team!

Responsibilities

Qualifications

• Have completed at least 2 years (3 preferred) towards a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Demonstrate a strong foundation in Java programming (Java 11 or higher).
• Have a solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles such as encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, and abstraction, and know how to apply them effectively in designing modular and maintainable code.
• Be comfortable working with common data structures (arrays, lists, maps, sets, queues, stacks) and algorithms (sorting, searching, recursion), and understand their time and space complexity trade-offs.
• Be familiar with development tools and environments such as IntelliJ or Eclipse.
• Have experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Show basic knowledge of software version control (preferably Git).
• Understand fundamental networking concepts (e.g., HTTP, TCP/IP, DNS).
• Be a critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
• Have good written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications (nice-to-haves):

• Good familiarity with SQL and work tied to relational databases.
• Exposure to containerization technologies like Docker.
• Understanding of RESTful web services and basic API integration.
• Interest or any experience in software testing and QA practices.
• Previous internship or project-based experience in software development.
• Good knowledge of the SDLC
