Position Overview

At Autodesk, we empower those who imagine, design, and create a better world for everyone. Our Field Delivery team builds software used by construction workers on active job sites where connectivity is limited, conditions are unpredictable, and reliability is required.

We're looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a team within our Field Delivery group. This role has significant operational responsibilities. You'll manage a team of software engineers, QA, and DevOps, keeping execution on track, processes running smoothly, and quality high across the codebase.

A key part of this role is representing the team across the broader Autodesk organization. You'll collaborate with trust, security, privacy, compliance, and other cross-functional teams to ensure we meet organizational standards and deliver on our commitments. You'll also own quality across the codebase, making sure the team has the processes, tools, and culture to ship reliable software at a sustainable pace.

This is a role for someone who is equally comfortable in a one-on-one with a direct report, a planning meeting with product leadership, and a technical review with the security team. You care about people, you care about operational excellence, and you know how to get things done across organizational boundaries.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a team of software engineers, QA, and DevOps

  • Conduct regular one-on-ones, annual reviews, and career development conversations

  • Help fill open roles on the team, including participating in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring

  • Source, onboard, and manage contractors as needed to support delivery

  • Set clear expectations, provide direct feedback, and address performance issues when needed

  • Partner with product management and engineering leadership to define roadmaps, priorities, and timelines

  • Drive execution across the team, removing blockers and ensuring projects ship on time and at a high quality bar

  • Own quality across the codebase, ensuring the team maintains strong test coverage, code review standards, and release processes

  • Collaborate with Autodesk trust, security, privacy, and compliance teams to ensure our platform meets organizational and regulatory requirements

  • Represent the team in cross-organizational planning, audits, and reviews

  • Drive incident response and postmortem processes, fostering a culture of accountability and learning

  • Establish and maintain engineering processes that balance velocity with reliability and compliance

  • Manage team budgeting, resource allocation, and vendor relationships

  • Build a team culture grounded in transparency, ownership, and continuous improvement

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in an engineering management role

  • Experience managing teams across multiple disciplines (software, QA, DevOps)

  • Experience sourcing, managing, and holding contractors accountable

  • Experience partnering with security, privacy, compliance, or trust teams in an enterprise environment

  • Strong understanding of software development practices, CI/CD, and quality assurance processes

  • Experience owning and improving code quality and release processes across a team

  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Experience with budgeting and resource management

  • You lead with empathy, hold a high bar, and create an environment where people do their best work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing teams building web and mobile applications

  • Familiarity with our technology stack: React, React Native, Python/Django, PostgreSQL, AWS

  • Experience working within compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, FedRAMP, or similar

  • Experience managing distributed or remote engineering teams

  • Background in construction, workforce management, or field operations software

  • Experience driving adoption of AI tools and agents to improve engineering productivity

  • Experience managing teams that support field-facing or offline-first applications
