Job Summary

Aretum is currently seeking a motivated and talented Emerging Technologies (ET) Lead to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading an RD Labs team that implements next generation technology prototypes, works with domain experts, and productizes prototypes into products. The emerging technologies team tackles include AI, machine learning, natural language processing, blockchain solutions, chatbots and robotic process automation (RPA) for now, but more technologies will be added as the technology industry evolves. The ET Lead will work directly with either the CTO or the CEO on specific projects, tools, technologies. You will also support various government contracting delivery teams in adoption of emerging technologies in their projects, and contribute to technical solutioning and approaches for government proposals, request for information, and bids. The ET Lead will be responsible for mentoring and directing junior and mid-level developers.

Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements. Support for proposals could include providing skills alignment summaries, participating in meetings, or contributing to solutioning activities based on subject matter expertise or functional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Be the team lead for Aretum Labs
  • Identify projects, lead requirements, and lead the development of multiple emerging technical projects running in parallel related to such technologies as blockchain, AI, NLP, chatbots.
  • Identify and articulate a vision for each of these products by doing technical design, documentation, and presentations.
  • Review ongoing engineering efforts to ensure they are aligned with best practices
  • Perform as a hands-on senior developer, as needed.
  • Maintain and upgrade existing team-developed blockchain and AI software tools through hands-on Python and JavaScript development
  • Perform as a senior developer to implement solutions
  • Mentor junior team members in both development and DevOps work including developing CI/CD pipelines

Requirements

  • 8+ years’ experience with open-source application development stacks, machine learning models, blockchain Development and concepts
  • 5+ years in implementing blockchain and AI/ML projects
  • 8+ years’ experience with development on either Python or Java
  • Interest in leading emerging technology product development
  • 5+ years’ experience with the GCP or AWS
  • Agile development exposure
  • Ability to work independently and direct junior team members
  • Ability to work with multiple streams of technical work and do context-switching with ease
  • Experience with implementing CI/CD solutions for automated deployments
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent technical solutioning skills
  • Excellent documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • GCP Cloud Experience
  • Machine Learning experience
  • 5+ years’ experience with the Amazon Web Services platform
  • Working knowledge of Sagemaker, Tensorflow or similar tools.
  • Agile development experience with either Scrum or Scaled Agile
  • Experience in designing and building microservices-based solutions
  • Experience in marketing products and doing pre-sales calls

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related scientific or technical discipline. Suitable experience can be used to substitute for education.

Travel Requirement

This is a remote position; however, occasional travel may be required based on project needs, client meetings, team collaboration events, conferences, or training sessions. Travel is expected to be less than 10% and will be communicated in advance, whenever possible. Driving proximity to the Washington DC metropolitan area is required.
