As a Senior LLM Specialist at Appen, you will be responsible for contributing your expertise to enhance the accuracy and performance of our cutting-edge large language models. Your role will involve fine-tuning and training LLMs to perform at the highest level and ensuring that they meet specific client criteria. You will have the flexibility to work remotely within the United States, committing to 20 to 40 hours per week based on project needs.
Key Responsibilities: LLM Model Fine-Tuning: Utilize your expertise in writing and language understanding to fine-tune existing Large Language Models for optimal performance in various generalist-related tasks.
Model Training and Evaluation: Conduct rigorous testing and evaluation of LLMs to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to enhance their performance.
Writing and Documentation: Demonstrate excellent writing skills to document the fine-tuning process, methodologies, and outcomes in clear and concise reports. 
Quality Assurance: Maintain a meticulous approach to detail and accuracy, ensuring that LLM outputs meet the highest quality standards and adhere to general guidelines. 
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and language experts, to achieve project goals and deliver outstanding results. 
Adaptability: Be flexible in your work hours to meet project demands and deadlines, while providing reliable support to the team. 
Requirements:  Writing/ Communications Expertise: In-depth knowledge of writing concepts and communication languages, with a background in large language processing and LLMs.Excellent Writing Skills: Demonstrated ability to produce well-structured and articulate technical documentation and reports. Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills and an unwavering focus on precision and accuracy. Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to tackle complex problems, think algorithmically and critically, and develop innovative solutions to enhance model performance.Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the broader tech industry and its intersection with AI, including competitive trends and key players, which can inform strategic decisions.Ethics and Privacy Awareness: Understanding of ethical considerations in AI, including data privacy, fairness, and transparency, particularly in the training and deployment of large language models.Project Management: Skills in managing projects from conception through implementation, including setting timelines, coordinating with team members, and ensuring project goals are met on time and within budget.
Contractual Arrangement: This position is classified as a full-time, hourly contract based in the United States with Appen. Under this agreement, you will commit to working between 20 to 40 hours per week, depending on project needs. The specifics of the arrangement, including scope of work, compensation, and other pertinent details, will be clearly outlined in the contract.Flexibility is essential for this role, as the demand for your expertise may fluctuate based on the dynamic nature of our projects. You will be required to adjust your availability in accordance with the varying workload, which may alter weekly or monthly. Your ability to adapt to these changing demands is crucial and will play a significant role in the success and efficiency of our ongoing collaboration.
