Summary:

Anaconda is seeking an experienced QA Automation Manager to join our rapidly-growing company and lead our QA automation efforts on our Anaconda AI platform team. In this role, you'll manage a team of QA automation engineers while driving technical excellence across multiple platforms including Web, Desktop, CLI, and API automation. This position combines people leadership with hands-on technical expertise in Playwright, TypeScript, Python, and AI driven testing solutions, while implementing automation strategies that enhance our testing efficiency and quality assurance processes.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and manage a team of QA automation engineers, providing career development, mentoring and performance management
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance and perform daily pull request code reviews for quality and maintainability
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and facilitate team growth through technical and soft skills development
  • Drive team OKRs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and facilitating regular progress tracking and course correction as needed
  • Establish and monitor key testing KPIs including defect leakage rates, automation coverage metrics, test execution efficiency, and release quality indicators
  • Collaborate with NPI (New Product Introduction) teams to ensure smooth product releases and provide detailed Go/No-Go reports
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites for Web and Desktop applications, covering API, CLI, and end-to-end workflows.
  • Analyze automation test results, proactively identify flaky tests, and implement solutions to enhance test stability and reliability
  • Participate in daily scrum activities, sprint demos, planning, and retrospectives, contributing ideas to improve team processes continuously
  • Encourage a culture of knowledge sharing by organizing technical sessions and promoting cross team collaborations

What You Need:

  • 10+ years of expertise in creating robust and reliable automation scripts across Web, Desktop, CLI and API Applications
  • 3+ years of proven leadership experience managing and growing QA automation teams, including mentoring engineers, driving team performance, and enabling career growth
  • Expert-level proficiency in Playwright and TypeScript for UI automation, and strong experience with Python and pytest for API/CLI test development
  • Proficiency in shell scripting, Git/GitHub workflows, and modern CI/CD practices, with a deep understanding of code review and version control standards
  • Hands-on experience with performance testing tools like Locust, JMeter, or k6 for load and stress testing
  • Strategic mindset, with experience in driving OKRs, aligning quality efforts with organizational goals, and continuously improving processes
  • Demonstrate ownership of product quality and release velocity, including experience making Go/No-Go decisions and ensuring high quality standards are consistently met throughout the release cycle
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and effectively collaborate across product, development, and release teams
  • Skilled in test data strategy, test environment management, and use of analytics to improve test effectiveness and reduce flakiness
  • Ability to drive quality governance across multiple projects, ensuring consistency in automation strategy, test coverage, and defect management
  • Experience with AI powered development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Enterprise) and interest in exploring AI assisted testing techniques
  • Willingness and curiosity to learn new technologies, frameworks, and workflows to continuously enhance the QA efficiency

What Will Make You Stand Out:

  • People management experience in fast paced, high growth environments with proven ability to scale QA operations effectively
  • Strong Proficiency with Playwright, TypeScript, Python and overall automation architecture
  • ​​Experience automating Electron based desktop applications and cross-platform CLI testing (Windows, Linux, Mac)
  • Proven experience integrating AI driven development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Enterprise) to significantly boost engineering productivity
  • Experience working with AI/ML platforms or products, with understanding of testing challenges in AI driven applications
  • Advanced expertise in GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines, including custom workflows, deployment pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code for testing environments
  • Success in establishing and improving key QA metrics (defect leakage reduction, automation coverage increases, release velocity improvements)
  • Excellent track record collaborating cross functionally, especially with Product Management, Engineering, DevOps, Security and NPI teams
  • Track record of technical thought leadership through conference presentations, blog posts, or community contributions in the QA automation space
  • Proven ability to lead strategic decisions on testing frameworks, automation strategies, and adoption of AI powered testing initiatives
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services, Docker containerization, and cloud-based testing infrastructure for scalable automated testing solutions
  • Contributions to open source automation or testing tools

The base salary range for this role is $147,500 - $192,000 for candidates in New York City and San Francisco, and $110,500 - $163,000 for other US-based team members, along with annual bonus potential, equity participation, and benefits.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual compensation is determined by various factors, including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter will provide more specific details on the salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
