Division and Unit Overview

The Human Resources Division is responsible for developing and implementing human resources strategies and programs for the ACS. Human Resources provides operational and strategic resource support to all divisions with staffing, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, compensation administration, training and organization development, and succession planning. The customer base is diverse, including current, former and potential employees, management business partners, American Chemical Society members,

and outside vendors. The HR team directly serves over 700 Washington, DC affiliated employees and over 1,200 Columbus, Ohio affiliated employees. In addition to the Washington, DC and Columbus, Ohio locations, there are other locations in the United States as well as Great Britain and Asia.

Position Summary

The People Analytics Manager will play a pivotal role in leveraging data to inform HR strategies, programs, projects, and initiatives. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Human Resources, you will lead the development and implementation of people analytics programs, leveraging HR systems, surveys, and other data sources to provide valuable insights and support strategic HR initiatives.  

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive people analytics strategy aligned with ACS’s organizational priorities
  • Utilize HRIS systems modules and Success Factors to gather, analyze, and interpret HR data, including employee demographics, performance metrics, engagement levels, turnover rates, and workforce trends.
  • Create and maintain customized dashboards, reports, and visualizations to present key HR metrics and insights to stakeholders, including senior leadership, department heads, and HR colleagues.
  • Conduct deep-dive analysis and predictive modeling to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for improving HR processes, employee engagement, retention, and talent management.
  • Collaborate with HR Leadership Team, HR business partners and other stakeholders to define key performance indicators (KPIs), establish benchmarks, and track progress towards HR-related goals and objectives.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations and actionable insights to support strategic decision-making, such as talent acquisition strategies, performance management initiatives, succession planning, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts.
  • Lead data integrity efforts, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with privacy regulations and best practices.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in people analytics and HR data management, contributing to continuous improvement and innovation within the HR function
  • Train and mentor HR team members on using analytics tools and interpreting HR data to drive informed decisions and strategies
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as IT, Office of DEIR, and other data analytics teams to optimize data collection, integration, and reporting processes, leveraging technology solutions to enhance HR analytics capabilities
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor's degree in business Analytics or quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Math) or equivalent in work experience

Required Skills

  • 8+ years of data analytics experience
  • Proficiency in data analytics tools and techniques, including statistical analysis, data mining, and data visualization. Ability to analyze complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and correlations related to workforce metrics
  • Understanding of human resources principles, practices, and regulations. Familiarity with HR processes such as recruitment, performance management, employee engagement, and talent development.
  • Experience with HRIS and data management platforms. Knowledge of database querying languages (e.g., SQL), data manipulation tools (e.g., Excel, Python, R), and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)
  • Ability to align people analytics initiatives with business objectives and organizational goals.
  • Ability to translate data insights into actionable strategies and recommendations for HR and senior leadership
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to solve complex business challenges using data-driven approaches. Capacity to identify issues, propose solutions, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills to present data findings effectively to diverse audiences, including HR professionals, executives, and stakeholders
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build relationships across the organization
  • Experience managing people analytics projects from conception to implementation
  • Understanding of ethical considerations and legal compliance related to data privacy, confidentiality, and security in HR analytics practices
  • Demonstrated willingness to stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in people analytics and HR technology landscape

Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency in project planning, resource allocation, and monitoring progress to ensure timely delivery of results
  • Proficiency with UKGPro and Success Factors
  • Skills in change management processes to facilitate organizational change initiatives based on data insights and recommendations

Travel Expecatations

  • Up to 10% business travel per year

Division

Position Summary

This position will be primarily based in the Washington, D.C. office or Columbus, OH office. Human Resources Division employees work a hybrid schedule, consisting of working onsite two days per work, as decided by functional area. The balance of the week is open to working remotely, though employees are always welcome onsite each day if they choose.
