Zoe Hoover-Gonzalez

I’m a new marine biology graduate with a B.S. and practical experience using laboratory equipment, supported by hands-on research and detail-focused academic work. I’m an enthusiastic, quick learner who brings adaptability and strong communication to every team.

In my Marine Biology thesis, I quantified macroalgal coverage and benthic composition in Sarasota Bay by working with a large visual dataset, independently running the Coral Point Count Program, and completing 19,000+ points in the analysis process. I also built large-scale data sheets to compare species prevalence and track macroalgal abundance over time.

My experience extends beyond the lab: I assisted with installation of 200+ native plants across five restoration projects, supporting wetland restoration plans through site preparation, planting, maintenance, and ongoing site health monitoring. I contributed to invasive species removal to promote long-term ecosystem resilience.

I also strengthen teams through mentorship and youth support. As a Summer Resident Assistant and Camp Guardian Counselor, I fostered welcoming, inclusive environments while supervising student safety and responding to concerns with professionalism. Through tutoring, I provided individualized biology and chemistry support and mentored students with study strategies and test preparation.
