I'm a Cloud Systems Engineer based in Dallas, TX, currently at a healthcare SaaS company, with 4+ years in this role and 7 years before that as the sole IT owner for a multi-office law firm. My career path runs from hands-on help-desk and sysadmin work into infrastructure engineering and security operations. I didn't start in a cloud-native role, I grew into one.

The biggest thing I own right now: migrating our legacy SFTP platform onto AWS Transfer Family with zero downtime, across 15+ healthcare client endpoints (BCBS affiliates, CVS Health, UnitedHealth Group, ProMedica), with automated PGP decryption built on Lambda and OpenPGP.js.

I also led our org-wide email security migration from ZixProtect to Microsoft Defender for Office 365 / Purview, and I've remediated findings from two internal penetration tests: SSH cipher hardening, Active Directory privilege fixes, TLS enforcement.

I've delivered 100% on-time weekly security reviews for 3.5+ consecutive years, which matters more to me than it sounds. Reliability under a recurring, unglamorous obligation is a signal I take seriously.

Day to day I work in AWS (CloudFormation, AWS CDK, Lambda, IAM, WAF, KMS, CloudWatch), Ansible for user lifecycle automation, and Splunk for security dashboards and alerting. I also carry regular on-call and production-support rotations, which means hands-on troubleshooting of Docker, Amazon ECS, and Apache Airflow when something breaks at the infrastructure layer, not just the application on top of it.

Before this role: Azure AD/Entra ID, Active Directory, PingFederate, and a from-scratch on-prem-to-AWS cloud migration I led during COVID, including a 3-week remote-work transition for 120 employees.

What actually excites me is root-cause investigation: tracing a problem to the real underlying cause instead of patching the symptom, even when there's pressure to just make it go away fast. I also like building automation that removes recurring manual toil, and I gravitate toward security-critical, high-trust work where getting it right actually matters.

I've been using AI tools in my workflow since late 2022, and today that means Claude Code and OpenCode for infrastructure scripting and documentation.

I'm looking for roles that are fully remote, where I'd be trusted with ambiguous, investigative technical problems and given room to grow from operational ownership into more design/architecture authority.
