Stephanie Otero

I’m a special education educational assistant who assists the teacher to meet learning objectives and support students in any way needed. I work in an intensive global service classroom with students who are medically fragile, with both intellectual and physical disabilities.

I bring a BA in Elementary Education & Special Education (Grand Canyon University, GPA 3.85) and translate that training into daily classroom support. I prepare classroom materials and activities, assist students and the teacher, and help with personal care tasks such as changing diapers and feeding students.

I also focus on communication, problem-solving, and consistency. I help with student behaviors with positivity, collaborate with other teachers and co-encouraging teachers as well as administration, and communicate with parents and administration via phone, email, or in person. I’ve successfully led the classroom for 5 months when no teacher was hired and for 2 weeks when a teacher had a personal emergency.
