Sophia Mogere

I am a dedicated molecular biologist with over 1.5 years of experience in molecular research, bioinformatics, and biostatistics. My journey began with a B.Sc. in Biotechnology from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, where I developed a strong foundation in molecular laboratory techniques and data analysis. Currently, I serve as a Research Associate at Obimbo Lab, where I analyze 16S rRNA sequence data using R Bioconductor packages, contributing to the understanding of the vaginal microbiome.

Throughout my career, I have been involved in various projects that focus on the intersection of microbiome research and public health. My work at the Centre for Molecular Biosciences and Genomics allowed me to perform bioinformatic analyses and real-time PCR testing for infectious diseases. I am passionate about leveraging bioinformatics to inform data-driven public health policies aimed at reducing the burden of infectious and neglected tropical diseases. I believe that my skills in statistical analysis and my commitment to research can significantly contribute to advancements in public health.
