Sopheia Edghill
@sopheiaedghill1
Senior environmental consultant with 14+ years leading biodiversity and EIA fieldwork.
What I'm looking for
I’m a field research and natural resource professional with 14+ years of supervisory and project management experience across diverse ecosystems and communities in Guyana and the wider region. I turn research objectives into practical field protocols, manage timelines, and deliver evaluator-ready technical outputs.
In my current role as a Consultant PC Consultants, I support the development of evidence-based proposals and bids covering food and agriculture, forestry, biodiversity, environment, and climate change. Previously at Environmental Resources Management (ERM), I authored and contributed to Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), Baseline Studies, and Gap Analyses, integrating field data into reports for mining, oil & gas, and infrastructure clients.
At ERM and WWF-Guianas, I coordinated biodiversity field assessments across marine, terrestrial, and coastal environments, and I led high-trust stakeholder engagement—facilitating collaboration with 120+ fisherfolk and community members, and supporting 15+ workshops for 150+ stakeholders using participatory research methods. I also served as Field Safety Officer, ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols, and mentored junior staff and interns.
With WWF-Guianas, I managed the Oceans Programme initiatives across sustainable fisheries, mangrove protection, marine wildlife conservation (especially sea turtles), and Marine Spatial Planning (MSP). I supported donor-funded project delivery against budgets and reporting requirements, contributed field data to national policies and management plans, and provided technical support for Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification compliance.
