Sergio Martin Ramirez
@sergiomartinramirez
Molecular biologist and biochemist specializing in high-throughput protein interactions, proteomics, and experimental workflow leadership.
What I'm looking for
I’m a molecular biologist and biochemist with 5+ years of experience, anchored in PhD research in Biochemistry and Plant Physiology at Wageningen University. I developed and optimized a novel high-throughput protein interaction platform (“CRKing the code; a high-throughput exploration of Cysteine-rich Receptor Kinases in Arabidopsis”). I coordinated experimental workflows over multiple years, designed validation physiological assays at the cell and plant level, and delivered large-scale protein interaction datasets that supported publication and downstream biological interpretation.
I bring proven strength in project and laboratory management: designing and optimizing high-throughput experimental workflows, managing laboratory stock and sample libraries, and coordinating multi-year experimental efforts across staff and students. I build robust protocols and SOPs, and I support training and onboarding so teams can execute consistently. My work spans protein expression, cross-disciplinary stakeholder coordination, and careful integration of microscopy and biochemical assays.
On the technical side, I combine molecular biology with quantitative analysis—from protein interaction assays (western blot, co-immunoprecipitation, BiFC) to cell physiology assays (ROS quantification, cell death, cell stress). I use fluorescence and confocal microscopy, run proteomics mass spectrometry pipelines, and apply R for statistical analysis and data visualization. I also leverage 3D protein modeling tools (PyMOL, APBS, AlphaFold) to strengthen structure-guided insights, and I translate complex science into actionable conclusions with clear visual and written communication.
