Safia Poindexter
@safiapoindexter
Program coordinator blending event strategy, outreach, and policy research impact.
What I'm looking for
I’m a Political Science undergraduate focused on research and public-policy thinking, with a minor in International Studies & Economics. My coursework—Public Policy Analysis, International Law, Comparative Politics, and Research Methods—shapes how I approach programs with clarity, evidence, and purpose.
In my Programming Coordinator role, I coordinated logistics and execution for campus events using Microsoft applications, managing budgeting, supply management, and attendee engagement. I developed event playbooks and reports to improve planning efficiency, and I created marketing strategies through flyers, posters, and social media posts to support strong turnout.
I also apply my skills to community impact through a co-op in affordable housing community development. I conducted neighborhood outreach, connected residents to programs related to housing, employment, and education, and planned/promoted community events to strengthen engagement—partnering with community stakeholders to expand access to services. Alongside this, I lead through student and community leadership: as Co-Founder & Co-President, and as President of the Black Student Union, where I advocated for inclusive policies, organized culture and equity-focused programming, and managed social media.
Earlier roles strengthened how I show up for people—whether serving residents with memory conditions in a high-standard dining environment or supporting fast-paced store operations as an Assistant Manager. I bring strong organization, leadership, and communication, and I’m motivated by work that builds trust, improves access, and turns plans into measurable experiences.
