Rodrigo Ortiz

After more than 25 years working across technology, banking, data, innovation, sustainability, and financial services, I now focus on applying that experience to development finance and institutional strengthening across Latin America and the Caribbean.

My career spans leadership roles at multinational technology firms, financial institutions, credit bureaus, and international development organizations. I have led initiatives in financial inclusion, digital transformation, data strategy, innovation management, SME development, environmental and social sustainability, ESG risk management, and institutional modernization.

An important part of my journey has been advancing sustainability within the financial sector. I spent nearly a decade at Banco BHD designing and implementing environmental and social risk management systems, developing ESG frameworks, and advising institutions on sustainability practices. I categorized 3,000+ clients, conducted 300+ field inspections, and helped the bank become one of IDB's top 50 sustainable banks—twice. I also advised a public bank on creating its environmental risk unit.

In banking innovation, I restructured the Products area at Grupo LAFISE with an omnichannel vision, implementing the bank's first multidisciplinary Agile Team. I increased active clients by 200% and exceeded digital growth targets by 143%. I launched the Non-Financial Offer for SMEs with gender focus, coordinated the WeFi Code implementation, and managed seven regulatory product approvals.

As Chief Data Officer at Equifax for Caribbean, Mexico and Central America, I led regional data strategy, cloud transformation (GCP), and governance across multiple countries. Earlier at Banesco, I established the bank's data management framework, governance structures, and DataOps methodology.

Currently, I support operations at the Inter-American Development Bank, working with governments, financial institutions, regulators, and development partners to strengthen financial systems, expand access to finance, accelerate digital transformation, and promote sustainable economic growth.
