Richard Blumenthal
@richardblumenthal
Higher education operations coordinator transitioning into data/process roles to support online learners.
What I'm looking for
I’m a higher education professional with experience coordinating student services, managing scheduling systems, and supporting faculty operations at multiple universities. I thrive in high-volume, detail- and deadline-driven environments where clear communication keeps everyone aligned.
At Ohio University, I served as Coordinator of Collaborative Piano, managing scheduling and coverage for 120+ applied voice students and multiple staff pianists across lessons, juries, and performances. I coordinated accompanist assignments across graduate assistants and students, resolving conflicts in real time, while serving as the primary point of contact for scheduling, logistics, and performance preparation each semester for full 300+ student school of music.
Previously, at Middle Tennessee State University and Louisiana State University, I supported high-volume student programming and contributed operational and instructional support across performance settings. I balanced multiple concurrent responsibilities, coordinated regularly with faculty to assess student preparation and performance readiness, and maintained strong lines of communication to support student and faculty needs.
Beyond core coordination work, I continue freelancing as a pianist/teacher/session musician and deliver remote recordings, virtual instructional sessions, and collaborative projects with consistent turnaround and quality standards. I’m also a MusicCityReview contributing writer, producing reviews in a remote, self-directed workflow—building the writing discipline, system thinking, and accuracy I’m now applying to a data/process-focused direction.
